About The Position

The Wax Injector supports PCC Carson City’s investment casting process by producing precision wax patterns used in aerospace and industrial castings. This role operates wax injection equipment, performs inspections, and ensures patterns meet dimensional and visual quality standards. This position is structured within PCC’s development framework, where employees progress through Levels 1–3 based on technical proficiency, equipment knowledge, and demonstrated performance. As employees advance, they take on increased responsibility in machine setup, process control, troubleshooting, and production support.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive hand and arm motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds independently; heavier items require lifting devices or assistance.
  • Good hand–eye coordination and fine motor skills required.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and work in various positions.
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, wax materials, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Ability to perform basic math and interpret written instructions.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality awareness.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience in manufacturing, molding, or production preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret PEIs, SOPs, routers, and production documentation.
  • Maintain lot traceability and accurate production tracking (AQCS).
  • Verify part marking and ensure proper documentation throughout production.
  • Operate wax injection machines in accordance with established parameters and procedures.
  • Apply mold release, prepare dies, and ensure proper machine function.
  • Monitor wax levels, machine sensors, and operating conditions.
  • Perform visual inspection of wax patterns for defects such as flow lines, bubbles, cracks, sinks, and non-fill.
  • Verify part geometry and conformance to basic specifications.
  • Ensure proper part handling to prevent nicks, dents, or damage.
  • Use basic hand tools to support machine operation and tooling changes.
  • Clean dies between patterns and prepare tooling for storage.
  • Maintain equipment and work area cleanliness (6S).
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support department and business objectives.
  • Operate wax injection machines and manual equipment under supervision.
  • Adjust and verify basic machine parameters per PEI instructions.
  • Apply mold release and clean dies between pattern runs.
  • Perform basic die operation and assist with tooling preparation and storage.
  • Maintain wax levels and monitor basic equipment conditions.
  • Perform basic visual inspection and verify part marking.
  • Perform part trimming (injection feed removal) and ensure proper handling.
  • Maintain lot traceability and production tracking in AQCS.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of part geometry and shop math.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area (6S).
  • Meet production goals and productivity targets.
