About The Position

This role is responsible for overseeing a manufacturing department, ensuring production objectives are met, and fostering employee engagement and development. The supervisor will model company values, provide clear direction, monitor performance, and address personnel issues. They will also be involved in process improvement, safety initiatives, and data collection for staffing and capital needs. The position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to teach and utilize World Class Manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing tools.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to model SEL Values to others
  • Proven ability to communicate professionally, respectfully and openly to a diverse audience.
  • Proven ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work; intervene to remove obstacles as needed.
  • Advanced knowledge of manufacturing processes and product flow for up and downstream departments.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and department's business systems (Lotus Notes, Dynamics AX, SQS, etc.)
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Nice To Haves

  • College degree (BS or BA)
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and department's business systems (Lotus Notes, Dynamics AX, SQS, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Model SEL Values and Leadership characteristics to employees.
  • Responsible for department indicators and providing clear direction to department in order to meet department production objectives.
  • Understand upstream and downstream departments in order to ensure accurate communication and appropriate product flow.
  • Monitor employee performance, regularly provide employee feedback, empower, mentor and coach employees, write and deliver performance reviews, and assist employees in setting goals.
  • Responsible for driving employee engagement and positively and accurately communicating change.
  • Responsible for assessing employee training needs and providing/overseeing training.
  • Actively and effectively address personnel issues and settle differences equitably and productively.
  • Create, update and ensure control of department work instructions and reports.
  • Provide input into staffing and capital needs through the collection and reporting of data.
  • Utilize and teach World Class Manufacturing and basic Lean Manufacturing tools to others.
  • Promote safety standards to others and assist in implementing safety initiatives.
  • Continuously identify, measure, and improve processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
