About The Position

The Raw Materials Testing Technician is responsible for obtaining samples of materials from the Mixing Department and testing those samples for quality parameters. Ability to make decisions based on test results to ensure customer receive good quality product. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to work in a team environment. Proficiency in computer applications and the ability to work independently are also essential. The technician must be able to process work accurately, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and use standard office equipment. The job involves both office work and movement around the plant floor, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods, maneuver around the plant, talk, hear, handle, reach, feel, stoop, and periodically lift and move documents and materials. Accurate color distinction is necessary for quality control.

• Physical activity includes sitting, maneuver around out on plant floor, talking, hearing, handling, reaching, and feeling.
• Ability to stoop to pick up items off of the floor.
• Ability to reach above your head to obtain or place work related materials.
• Ability to periodically lift and move documents, files, file folders and other materials necessary to maintain consistent workflow.
• Ability to move about the office, plant and grounds as necessary to deliver and receive work related materials or to meet with coworkers, customers, vendors and others.
• Must dress professionally and appropriately.
• Ability to accurately distinguish and identify colors to ensure product quality and adherence to established standards and specifications.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Must have adequate math skills.
• Ability to pass company entrance test.

Responsibilities

• Obtain samples of materials from the Mixing Department and test those samples for quality parameters.
• Operate lab equipment as necessary to ensure successful testing of quality parameters (e.g., thickness, color, gravity, cure).
• Fill in for R&D Technician and QC Technician as needed.
• Communicate with suppliers as needed.
• Develop and write Roppe raw material specifications.
• Manually record data in a correct manner to ensure accurate reports.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Other duties as assigned.
