Manufacturing Technician (OVERNIGHT SHIFT)
About The Position
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for their facility in Chillicothe, Ohio. This role operates essential manufacturing equipment safely and efficiently, including pumps, agitators, shakers, scales, and viscosity measurement tools. The technician is responsible for daily scale calibrations, maintaining housekeeping standards, and performing various duties such as washing equipment, loading tanks and containers, and filtering product. The position requires adherence to established process instructions, documentation, customer, and DOT requirements for labeling. Operators must be comfortable working with hazardous materials, using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and following all site and area guidelines, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role also involves assisting in the training of other employees and performing selective maintenance tasks to ensure continuous operation of the process. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment and possess good computer skills.
Requirements
- High school diploma required.
- 40 hr. work week (including occasional weekday and weekend overtime)
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Capability to learn quickly and work in a self-directed team environment
- Comfortable working with Hazardous materials while using proper PPE (gloves, masks, glasses, safety shoes, protective suits...Etc.
- At least 3 years’ experience working in an Industrial or Manufacturing environment
- Good Computer skills
- Ability to lift/ carry/ push/ pull 50 Lbs. and stand for 8 hrs. per day
- Ability to repetitively climb ladders/ stairs, bend, stoop, twist, crouch, kneel, reach above shoulders, turn wrench/ valve handles
Nice To Haves
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Previous manufacturing experience
- Previous experience operating lift trucks/ material handling
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Responsibilities
- Run all required equipment in a safe and efficient manner: Pumps/ Agitators/ Shakers, Scales, Viscosity measurements, Daily scale calibrations
- Maintain housekeeping
- Washing equipment (tanks, pumps, piping and loading equipment)
- Loading (charging) various size tanks from 5 to 500-gallon capacity
- Loading (charging) moving and lifting gallon stock, drums and totes
- Follow established process instructions and documentation (monitoring equipment)
- Filtration of product (loading / charging FSI filter and traps)
- Labeling of containers, following established process, customer and DOT requirements
- Housekeeping (participating in area cleanup)
- Auditing
- Perform selective maintenance tasks / equipment switch-outs to keep the process running
- Operate computer-controlled equipment
- Follow all site and area guidelines pertaining to all functions within the plant and assigned tasks.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) that pertain to employees job functions
- Assist in the training of other employees
