About The Position

Throne is hiring several full-time Battery Technicians in New York City to perform routine and emergency battery swaps across its fleet of self-contained restroom units in all five boroughs, and to pick up batteries at its charging facility in New Jersey. The role reports to the NYC Technical Operations Manager and involves driving a box truck between the charging facility and Throne locations, handling batteries with an electric pallet jack and lift gate, and keeping work and vehicle records accurate. Technicians also use a smartphone to navigate, communicate with coworkers, and document work. Other duties include cleaning restroom units, removing trash, restocking supplies as needed, alerting the technical team to observed issues or repairs, and keeping fleet vehicles clean and organized. The role is scheduled on one of two overnight shifts: 6:00 pm–2:30 am or 12:00 am–8:30 am, with regular weekend rotations. It is a temporary, at-will position anticipated to continue through approximately March 31, 2027, subject to business needs; the anticipated end date and any extension or transfer are not guaranteed. New hires start at $30.00 per hour and are eligible for a benefits package, with some benefit rates increasing with tenure.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in driving or delivery.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to use tools and equipment properly and safely.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to escalate issues as needed.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to work overnight and on weekends.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Can-do attitude and passion for Throne’s mission.

Nice To Haves

Some battery-swapping experience.
Knowledge of testing procedures for electrical components, including voltage, continuity, and current tests.
Experience driving a 26-foot truck throughout New York City.
Experience using a work order system.

Responsibilities

Pick up charged batteries from the charging facility in New Jersey.
Drive a box truck safely from the charging facility to Throne locations to perform battery swaps.
Operate an electric pallet jack and lift gate to load and unload batteries at the charging facility and Throne sites.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including documentation of repairs, replacements, and inspections.
Return depleted batteries to the charging facility and ensure they are connected and charging safely at the end of each shift.
Use a smartphone to navigate to sites, communicate with coworkers, and record work performed.
Clean restroom units, remove trash, and restock supplies as needed.
Alert the technical team to observed issues or needed repairs.
Keep fleet vehicles clean and organized, and flag needed repairs for management.
