About The Position

Motorola Solutions is seeking a precision-driven Manufacturing Technician to support the production and testing of life-safety communication infrastructure. This role acts as a bridge between complex automation and high-precision communication technology, serving as the frontline defender of production uptime. The technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex automated and manual test equipment to ensure products meet the highest quality standards. This position is at the intersection of hardware, software, and industrial automation.

Requirements

3+ years related experience
Associates Degree in EET, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields
Understanding of Programmable Logic Controllers (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Beckhoff) that control the physical movement of products through a test cell.
Troubleshooting the "eyes and hands" of the system—photoelectric sensors, limit switches, and pneumatic cylinders.
Basic maintenance of 6-axis or SCARA arms (e.g., FANUC, ABB) used to load/unload devices into test fixtures.

Nice To Haves

Experience with IP-based networking as it relates to radio consoles and site links
Experience with Robotics and Motion Control
Expert-level use of Communication Equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, and Network Analyzers (VNA) to measure gain, loss, and impedance.

Responsibilities

Provide rapid-response "floor support" to minimize downtime, identifying whether a failure is a "true fail" (product defect) or a "false fail" (test equipment error).
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing systems, identifying mechanical, electrical, or software-based bottlenecks in the production flow.
Support and optimize automated test equipment, working with the engineering team to implement firmware updates and hardware upgrades.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on test fixtures, thermal chambers, and automated handling equipment to ensure 100% accuracy.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical failures in test racks, including replacing PCBAs, sensors, pneumatic components, and wiring harnesses.
Maintain meticulous records of equipment downtime, test yields, TPM, and repair logs to drive continuous improvement (CI) initiatives.
Assist engineers in deploying new test scripts and debugging software-to-hardware communication issues.
