About The Position

Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc. is seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Supervisor to join our New Berlin, WI team. We are looking for a leader who can actively participate in operations, inspire their teams, and drive accountability and collaboration. This role is responsible for effectively supervising, coaching, and developing teams through proactive planning, practical implementation, addressing problems/concerns, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven ability to lead a production team.
• Hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, evolving settings.
• Strong background in continuous improvement and the ability to apply concepts.
• Able to navigate personalities, drive accountability, and promote open communication.
• Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing and motivating a diverse group of employees.
• May require in-depth ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Advanced ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of personnel and production challenges.
• Requires 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate manufacturing activities during the 2nd shift, ensuring production goals are met efficiently and safely.
• Train, cross-train, coach and develop the team to equip them with the necessary tools to succeed.
• Support continuous improvement efforts through lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
• Serve as a backup for the team leads.
• Understand and communicate department goals and objectives to all team members.
• Resolve employee issues through problem and conflict resolution.
• Communicate issues with managers.
• Tackle real-time challenges as they occur.
• Engage in continuous improvement.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and engineering specifications to determine production processes and tolerance limits.
• Complete performance reviews on 2nd shift production team.
