2nd Shift Manufacturing Supervisor
About The Position
Sumitomo Electric Carbide, Inc. is seeking an experienced second-shift supervisor for its New Berlin, Wisconsin team. The supervisor leads the production team by planning and coordinating manufacturing activities, coaching and developing employees, addressing production and personnel challenges, and supporting continuous improvement. The role requires promoting accountability and collaboration while ensuring production goals are met safely and efficiently. The supervisor also interprets production and engineering documentation and completes performance reviews for the second-shift production team.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to lead a production team.
- Supervisory experience, including coaching, directing, and motivating a diverse group of employees.
- Strong background in continuous improvement and ability to apply relevant concepts.
- Ability to lead hands-on in a fast-paced, evolving setting.
- Ability to navigate different personalities, drive accountability, and promote open communication.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Advanced ability to solve practical problems and address personnel and production challenges.
- May require in-depth ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, and specifications.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate second-shift manufacturing activities to meet production goals efficiently and safely.
- Train, cross-train, coach, and develop team members.
- Support continuous improvement using lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
- Serve as backup for team leads.
- Communicate department goals and objectives to team members.
- Resolve employee issues through problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Communicate issues to managers and address real-time challenges.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and specifications to determine production processes and tolerance limits.
- Complete performance reviews for the second-shift production team.
