This role is within the Manufacturing Group - Nomex, specifically on the Quality Assurance Team. The team oversees manufacturing and production operations, including assembly, machinery, processing, and packaging. Responsibilities include setting production schedules based on demand, product introduction, equipment efficiency, material supply, and staffing. The role also involves supporting, training, and developing the manufacturing line organization to maintain and enhance operations. The Quality Assurance function establishes and is accountable for all quality activities within a business unit or site. This includes managing the quality management system, ensuring customer satisfaction, maintaining quality certifications, overseeing supplier and contract manufacturer relationships, conducting training, performing quality audits, and implementing corrective and preventive actions. The role requires close collaboration with business and site leadership to drive continuous quality improvement. The position is for a professional with significant knowledge in their discipline and related areas, capable of completing specialized and moderately complex tasks with moderate supervision. The role may involve supervising employees or acting as an individual contributor focused on task performance and specialized process delivery.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hr rotating shift schedule
  • Willing and able to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and short notice call-in as required
  • Willing and able to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toe shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, arc protective clothing, rubber acid suits, Respirex hoods and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus)
  • Willing and able to: lift 10 lbs. frequently, 25 lbs. regularly, 55 lbs. occasionally; climb stairs, ladders, and columns; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, utilize visual acuity, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms and alerts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, etc.)
  • Experience with proprietary operating systems for manufacturing operations
  • Willing and able to learn new computer software systems, such as machine operating systems and touch screens interface.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of chemical process operations experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology or Industrial field
  • Any mechanical or manufacturing related certification or 3 years equivalent experience in troubleshooting and maintaining process equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees manufacturing and/or production operations, including assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging.
  • Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, volume required to meet demand, and ensures maximum production quantity and quality.
  • Supports, trains and builds the manufacturing line organization to maintain and enhance operations.
  • Establishes and is accountable for all Quality activities within a business unit or site, including the quality management system, customer satisfaction, quality certifications, quality-related aspects of supplier and contract manufacturer relationships, training, quality audits, and corrective and preventive actions.
  • Works closely with business/site leadership to drive continuous quality improvement.
  • Completes specialized and/or moderately complex tasks under moderate supervision.
  • May supervise employees or operate as an individual contributor, focused on task performance and delivery of specialized processes.
  • Requires conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and developing knowledge of related job disciplines.
  • Requires strong experience and knowledge of Nomex Fibers operations and materials to support quality initiatives.
  • Has developed a detailed understanding of key business drivers through multiple years of experience.
  • May guide or act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Has the ability to understand and influence.
  • Impacts a range of customer, operational, project or service activities within own team.
  • Begins to work independently with minimal to moderate guidance.
  • Analyzes potential solutions to problems related to quality (with or without vague/unstructured aspects) using experience, judgment and precedents.
  • Work requires judgment and consideration of future implications beyond the immediate problem.
