About The Position
Collins Aerospace is looking for an Engineering Intern – Manufacturing Operations (MFG-Ops) to join our team in Melbourne, Florida. As an Engineering Intern, you will work alongside experienced Manufacturing and Test Engineers to support the production of new and existing Collins Aerospace products. You will gain hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, production testing, test equipment reliability, data analysis, troubleshooting, and process improvement while contributing to projects that directly impact manufacturing performance. Requirements
- Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
- Previous experience with basic statistics and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with data analysis, automation, or engineering software such as Python, MATLAB, Excel, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with parametric process control and its implementation.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, particularly in electronics manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate technical and operational risks.
Responsibilities
- Develop and automate data-collection tools, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve test processes and outcomes.
- Analyze and enhance test equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency while reducing downtime and costs.
- Support capacity planning, ROI analysis, and evaluate test approaches to optimize staffing, production, and capital investments.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting, training, and resolving production issues, including Manufacturing Flow Inhibitors (MFIs).
- Collaborate with Design Engineering to address component obsolescence, maintain test documentation, and manage configuration and change processes.
