About The Position

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Manufacturing Operations Engineer to sustain and improve the health and reliability of its In/Out Room equipment fleet. This fleet includes specialized automated packaging equipment and associated equipment such as heaters and N2 pump systems. The role involves identifying equipment-condition data, organizing and evaluating trends, building real-time dashboards, and establishing work processes for responding to fleet trends. The engineer serves as a point of contact when equipment goes down, recovers basic errors, replaces parts, and coordinates vendor escalations. The position also covers equipment expertise, maintenance planning, statistical fleet-health monitoring, reliability engineering, cross-module collaboration, and documentation. The engineer analyzes equipment performance, investigates failures, develops preventive maintenance schedules, leads improvement projects, and maintains operating procedures and records. This is a full-time, on-site night-shift role on a compressed schedule of 12-hour shifts, three or four days per week.

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience with sub-fab systems in the semiconductor industry.
  • Experience in other manufacturing environments with large quantities of equipment.
  • Proficiency in data and statistical analytics.
  • Experience with mechanical equipment repair.
  • Knowledge of common industrial sensors, including pressure, temperature, and flow sensors.
  • Proficiency with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) concepts and their implementation in industry.

Responsibilities

  • Document, trend, and sustain the health of the In/Out Room equipment fleet.
  • Understand equipment functions, design concepts, common failure modes, and measurable parameters.
  • Understand maintenance procedures and schedules, establish maintenance expectations, and define constraints for failure conditions.
  • Compile equipment parameter data sets and rank equipment health based on values.
  • Evaluate parameter values using SPC methodologies and define specification limits.
  • Build and modify dashboards displaying equipment performance and health.
  • Automate escalations for equipment issues based on specification limits.
  • Create and enforce procedures for addressing fleet-health issues.
  • Analyze equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Author preventive maintenance schedules based on usage hours, manufacturer recommendations, and failure-mode analyses.
  • Perform root-cause investigations into abnormal equipment failures.
  • Organize and lead projects with defined benefits and ROI.
  • Collaborate with equipment engineer peers to drive module improvements.
  • Manage competing module priorities and advance important initiatives.
  • Produce and maintain operating manuals, SOPs, and fleet records.
  • Submit monthly KPI dashboards, including pump uptime and mean time between failure.
  • Record incident reports for audit purposes.
  • Recover basic equipment errors, replace parts, and work with vendors on escalations.
