Manufacturing Engineering Technician

Ralliant•Chandler, AZ
•Onsite

About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician provides hands-on production support to Manufacturing Engineers and production associates. The role helps maintain manufacturing operations by ensuring tooling readiness, keeping manufacturing instructions current, training operators, collecting process data, and supporting continuous improvement. The technician works under Manufacturing Engineering direction, communicates production issues and improvement recommendations to engineers, and is an individual contributor reporting to Phil Kelman while receiving daily functional direction from the Manufacturing Engineer supporting the assigned production area. The initial primary assignment is Building 24 at the Chandler site, with support for Manufacturing Engineers and production teams in other Chandler buildings as business needs require. This is a hands-on, hourly, on-site shop-floor position. Daytime coverage is anticipated, with flexibility for earlier starts, later finishes, and Friday, Saturday, or other weekend overtime as needed. The standard weekly schedule will be confirmed during the selection process. Routine travel is not anticipated, although occasional travel may be required. The role offers opportunities to broaden technical capability, contribute to tooling and process improvements, and develop operator-training skills. Progression depends on demonstrated capability and applicable role requirements; no promotion or advancement timeframe is guaranteed. Engineering education may support a future Manufacturing Engineer career path. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for employment due to U.S. Government contract requirements applicable to the position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of related manufacturing, production, or technical experience.
  • Hands-on knowledge of production equipment, tooling, manufacturing procedures, and work instructions, including the ability to recognize process problems and resolve or appropriately escalate them.
  • For the initial Building 24 assignment, demonstrated capability to perform the area's manufacturing processes and explain proper process and equipment use to others.
  • Computer competency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate respectfully, train and work effectively with production associates, follow engineering direction, and contribute to shared production and quality goals.
  • Ability to work fully on site in Chandler, support multiple production buildings, and provide overtime or weekend coverage as needed.
  • U.S. citizenship; only U.S. citizens are eligible due to applicable U.S. Government contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of relevant experience, including established knowledge of PacSci EMC manufacturing processes and experience across multiple production buildings.
  • Laser or TIG welding, soldering, and weld sectioning or evaluation experience.
  • Experience with powder measurement and pressing, pre-weld cleaning, assembly, inspection, and electrical testing in energetic-device manufacturing.
  • Experience with tooling readiness, engineering and document changes, engineering work orders, prototype or pre-production builds, and production-readiness activities.
  • Aegis electronic manufacturing instructions experience and exposure to Lean, continuous improvement, Kaizen, or the Ralliant Business System.
  • Experience with process-data analysis, PFMEA, process hazard analysis, or SPC.

Responsibilities

  • Verify production tooling is available, appropriate for the operation, usable, and within approved calibration status; identify shortages, damage, and upcoming calibration needs and coordinate resolution.
  • Coordinate tooling inventory, purchase and fabrication requests, repairs, replacements, and calibration activities with appropriate teams.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with tooling and fixture design and implementation; handle routine tooling support within established procedures and escalate new designs and engineering decisions for review and approval.
  • Work with production associates to identify and correct issues in manufacturing procedures and visual work instructions, updating documentation through the established document-change process.
  • Review approved manufacturing instructions with operators, demonstrate process steps and proper equipment and tool use, and help train new or developing associates.
  • Reinforce process adherence and address or escalate incorrect practices and production concerns.
  • Support and help lead smaller process-improvement activities under Manufacturing Engineering direction; gather shop-floor ideas and assist with Lean, Kaizen, standard work, and other continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Collect, report, and perform initial analysis of production and process data; summarize findings and communicate recommendations to Manufacturing Engineers to support equipment evaluation, process performance, and defect reduction.
  • Generate engineering work orders and support production-readiness reviews, project kickoff actions, engineering studies and experiments, and engineering or pre-production builds.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with process failure mode and effects analysis, process hazard analysis, and statistical process control activities as trained.
  • Support welding-related tooling, operator training, and weld sectioning and evaluation activities as qualified and directed, helping identify and reduce production defects.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and leads, operators, Manufacturing Engineers, and integrated product teams; support production across Chandler buildings and perform other related duties as assigned.
