About The Position

KCC Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Intern for its manufacturing operation in the Louisville, Kentucky area. This is a full-time, temporary internship for a student pursuing an Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering degree, with a focus on improving manufacturing processes. KCC Companies is an employee-owned company that provides design, manufacturing, installation, and service for commercial and residential HVAC. The intern will support shop-floor improvement projects, production methods, quality, productivity, and equipment-related work. Duties and responsibilities may change over time.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, with a major in industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities

Champion shop-floor improvement projects, such as fixture builds and cart design.
Oversee implementation of shop-floor improvement projects and document progress.
Provide hands-on leadership in welding and fabrication for special projects as needed.
Conduct and document time studies to determine effective manufacturing methods and times.
Assess equipment, material, and workspace layouts to maximize productivity.
Update and develop standard operating procedures for the shop floor.
Suggest process improvements related to quality and productivity.
Collaborate with management and product design engineers on the manufacturability of parts and assemblies.
Reduce scrap and identify opportunities to increase capacity.
Collect and analyze data to identify defect root causes and suggest countermeasures.
Report and document equipment or process abnormalities.
Manage and test new equipment.
Monitor and improve quality and processing areas, and assist with problem solving to improve quality, performance, productivity, and cost.
Perform production-related tasks as required.
