About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Rice Lake, WI. The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for controlling multiple project activities in the areas of product/process design, product/process modifications, manufacturability studies, plant usage, plant layouts, capital investments and engineering documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience to prove capabilities.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as a product/design/mechanical/manufacturing engineer or related engineering field.
  • Proficient in project management and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess problems or issues with manufacturing equipment.
  • Fluent in SolidWorks and other applicable engineering programs.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Drive capital project innovation by preparing R.F.E.s for new tools and equipment, leading initiatives that are large in scope, technically complex, and deliver long-term operational and profitability gains.
  • Lead end-to-end design estimation, evaluating feasibility and defining timelines for design, assembly, testing, and total project cost.
  • Build strong business cases by analyzing financial impact—including labor savings, efficiency improvements, scrap reduction, and safety enhancements—using metrics such as IRR and payback period.
  • Develop comprehensive manufacturing documentation to ensure product readiness, including Bills of Materials, flow charts, part and assembly drawings, and detailed schematics (air, lubrication, hydraulics, and piping layouts).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineering to translate design intent into efficient, streamlined system performance without unnecessary complexity.
  • Manage full project lifecycles, driving execution from concept through implementation while ensuring on-time delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and support across departments, divisions, and customers to ensure successful project outcomes and continuous improvement.
