About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive productivity, quality, and cost improvements on the shop floor. This role will lead time studies, process improvement initiatives, continuous improvement programs and apply AI-driven optimization tools to production planning, scheduling, and process control.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years’ hands-on experience in a metal fabrication or sheet metal environment.
  • Demonstrated experience performing time studies/time trials and establishing work standards.
  • Proven track record in process improvement and continuous improvement.
  • Experience applying AI/ML tools or optimization algorithms to manufacturing problems (scheduling, predictive maintenance, quality analytics).
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM, nesting software, ERP/MRP systems, and PLC/automation basics.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on the shop floor in a heavy industrial environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial AI platforms, and production scheduling optimization tools
  • Welding fabrication knowledge, press brake/laser operations experience.
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time trials/time studies and establish work standards, takt time, and labor standards for production operations.
  • Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, scrap, rework, and operating cost.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Kaizen, 5S , and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Implement and evaluate AI-based optimization tools for production scheduling, throughput optimization, predictive maintenance, and quality control.
  • Develop process documentation: work instructions, standard operating procedures, process flow diagrams, and PFMEAs.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve bottlenecks and technical issues.
  • Perform capacity planning and line balancing; recommend equipment, fixturing, tooling, and layout changes.
  • Monitor KPIs (OEE, cycle times, first-pass yield, scrap rates) and report improvements.
  • Support new product introductions and prototype-to-production transitions with manufacturing feasibility studies and process validation.
  • Train and mentor operators and supervisors on new standards and continuous improvement practices.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in a heavy fabrication environment.
