About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting manufacturing operations and project engineering initiatives, with a strong focus on implementing new parts and process changes on production machinery. This team member will be responsible for developing and implementing robust manufacturing processes, resolving build quality issues, supporting equipment set-up and prove-out activities, and ensuring the successful launch of new products and features. This role requires collaboration across cross-functional teams and a hands-on approach to continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, or related).
  • Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing engineering role.
  • Hands-on experience supporting CNC machining operations and new part implementation.
  • Familiarity with Haas and Okuma CNC mills and lathes.
  • Experience with fabrication, CNC machining, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Formal training in problem solving skills. (PFMEA, Fishbone, 5 Whys, etc.)
  • Computer use skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, etc.)
  • CAD skills to design and support fixtures, tooling, and work holdings (Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and customer focused.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Actively contributes to the success of the team with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and organization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean or Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • SharePoint, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, etc.) experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new manufacturing and assembly processes to support new product and product changes to ensure timely delivery of quality products with attention to safety and environmental standards.
  • Lead and support the implementation of new parts, tooling, and process changes on manufacturing equipment, including setup, validation, and production release.
  • Collaborate with operators, programmers, and maintenance to support CNC machining operations, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
  • Support commissioning, prove-out, and continuous improvement of machining centers, saws, and fabrication equipment.
  • Develop standard work, set-up documentation, and process controls for new and revised machine operations.
  • Resolve build quality problems and investigate manufacturing-related issues including cost of quality concerns.
  • Develop process maps, standard work, and work instructions for areas of responsibility, including development and documentation of routings.
  • Participate in the processes of product design and product change to ensure that issues of manufacturability, testing and quality are an integral part of the fundamental product design.
  • Create and manage manufacturing Bill of Materials (BOMs) to ensure they reflect current manufacturing processes.
  • Lead and mentor teams in continuous improvement activities to eliminate waste and enhance manufacturing Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory. (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Brainstorming, Metrics Analysis, etc.)
  • Act as a liaison between cross-functional teams to facilitate communication and alignment on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure smooth transitions between engineering project teams and manufacturing.
  • Collect and analyze process data to support improvement efforts.
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions, tools, fixtures, workstations, automation and systems to streamline processes and enhance productivity both in the manufacturing and office environments.
  • Support training programs for operators and technicians on new processes and equipment.
  • Maintain regularly updated reports for management review on the status of projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and key manufacturing KPIs to identity trends and opportunities.
  • Any other job duties as assigned.
