About The Position

McElroy Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer who is passionate about problem-solving and improving manufacturing systems. This role involves integrating advanced technology and driving measurable results to advance how products are manufactured. The engineer will work at the intersection of manufacturing engineering, operations, and advanced technology, analyzing, developing, and optimizing processes with a focus on automated warehouse and material-flow systems, robotic welding, manual welding operations, manufacturing automation, and continuous improvement. This position also provides support for unmanned machining initiatives and is ideal for an engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on shop-floor support with longer-term automation and process-improvement projects. The role involves owning projects from concept through implementation and playing a key part in scaling manufacturing capability.

Requirements

  • BS in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong computer and technical skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and CAD.
  • Experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles such as 5S, Kaizen, waste reduction, standard work, process improvement, and root cause analysis in a manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working with both established manufacturing processes and emerging automation technologies.
  • Able to evaluate opportunities, solve technical problems, and help move new technology from concept into reliable production use.
  • Detail-oriented, hands-on, proactive, and accountable.
  • Able to identify problems, collaborate with production teams, take ownership, and independently drive solutions through completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ERP systems, automation, robotics, CNC manufacturing systems, or related manufacturing technologies is preferred.
  • Experience supporting welding, automation, material handling, machining, or other production environments is highly desirable.
  • Willingness to travel domestically or internationally and work flexible hours as production or project requirements dictate.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize automated material flow by improving automated warehouse, storage, retrieval, and point-of-use delivery processes.
  • Advance robotic welding by developing and improving processes, tooling, fixtures, programming, and workflows.
  • Improve manual welding processes, workstations, fixtures, tooling, ergonomics, standard work, and material flow.
  • Integrate automation by identifying opportunities to automate repetitive or non-value-added activities and implementing technologies.
  • Support unmanned manufacturing by assisting with machining and other processes that benefit from extended unattended operation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by eliminating waste, reducing downtime, improving process capability, increasing throughput, and simplifying workflows.
  • Lead technology implementation by evaluating and implementing new equipment, automation, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing technologies.

Benefits

  • Opportunities for continued professional and technical development.
  • A collaborative team focused on innovation, continuous improvement, quality, safety, and manufacturing excellence.
  • Opportunities to lead projects that expand automation, manufacturing flexibility, unattended production, and overall operational capability.
  • A hands-on environment where engineering improvements can have a direct and measurable operational impact.
  • Opportunities to work with advanced manufacturing equipment and automation technologies.
  • Regular time on the manufacturing floor working directly with welding, automation, material-handling, machining, and production operations.
  • The ability to leave your mark on high-impact manufacturing technology projects.
