Who we are looking for: We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to be based out of Hobart, IN Reporting to the Sr. Engineering Manager. This person will be responsible for the development & troubleshooting of processes and production lines related to design, material, or process.  The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of relevant experience. Experience in lean manufacturing or a business system-based company is a plus. What you’ll do: Facilitate & participate in concept brainstorming & strategy sessions.  Work as a “hands-on” Engineer developing and troubleshooting product lines as related to design, material, or process.  Maintain and modify plant equipment to ensure that it is safe, reliable and efficient.  Plan and design experiments and conduct data analysis in support of product lines.  Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting & diagnosing design and manufacturing quality problems.  Conduct feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality or to assess existing technologies.  Provide technical mechanical input and understanding of maintenance and operations in order to enhance total preventative maintenance programs on existing machinery. Document concepts, designs, and processes and generate written protocols and reports. Conduct time and movement studies, review and analyze processes and methods and other work measurements activities Drive New Product Development by managing and contributing to projects. This will include interaction with sales and customers, review new product drawings, align and verify manufacturing capabilities, justify capital spend for necessary tooling or equipment, and provide technical support to manufacturing during production. Manage large capital projects including development of scope of work, collecting bids, developing justification, managing install for on budget and on time, managing commissioning activities with the support of operations.  Provide input to overall plant capabilities through plant manufacturing and warehouse layouts and utilities availability.  What you’ll bring: Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.  3-5 years' experience in manufacturing environment preferred.  Excellent in 2D CAD applications – AutoCAD.    Excellent in Inventor and 3D CAD applications.  Excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Windows Applications: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word.  Strong teamwork skills with the ability to achieve consensus, provide leadership, and create accountability.  Project Management Experience including defining, detailing, documentation, and driving completion of projects.  Experience in setting departmental goals and cascading personal goals    Within 3 months, you’ll: Complete your Atkore immersion program Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore’s strategy Gain an understanding of your team Within 6 months, you’ll: Manage continuous improvement projects, and rectify issues to achieve cost savings, quality improvements, and improve efficiency. Conduct time studies and recommend changes when needed. Develop work instructions for operations and quality checks and design systems for various operations. Review customer drawings and provide feedback regarding existing capabilities to meet customer requirements. Within 12 months, you’ll: Manage large capital projects including development of scope of work, collecting bids, developing justification, managing install for on budget and on time, managing commissioning activities with the support of operations.  Audit and improve plant floor maintenance programs. Identify tooling/equipment needs to increase plant capabilities to meet customer needs. Join our team and align yourself with an industry leader!  As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $74,400 - $102,300.  Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time.  Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing or industrial engineering.
