About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective production. This role focuses on optimizing systems and technologies, working with sales and manufacturing to develop new products with customer input, and designing/modifying dies for product development. The engineer will also conduct R&D trials, assist with production troubleshooting, and serve as the primary contact for customer questions and documentation related to PTI's foam products. Responsibilities include performing foam sample testing, operating Electrical Discharge Machines (EDM) and Esprit for die cutting, calculating tooling for production runs, conducting bi-weekly R&D meetings, developing and coordinating technical training for employees, and managing PTI's emission compliance with NC DEQ permits.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or related field or foreign equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing engineering experience (if Master's degree) or five (5) years of manufacturing engineering experience (if Bachelor's degree).
  • Experience with engineering software AUTO CAD and Esprit.
  • Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
  • Experience in implementing strategic planning.
  • Experience in analytics of engineering data.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Optimize systems and technologies in production.
  • Collaborate with sales and manufacturing to develop new products with customer input.
  • Design new dies and modify existing ones for product development and production.
  • Conduct R&D trials for new and modified products.
  • Assist production with troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Ensure familiarity with all regulatory information for PTI’s foam products and act as the main point of contact for customer questions and documentation.
  • Perform testing on foam samples and maintain documentation.
  • Operate Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) and Esprit to cut dies for product development and production support.
  • Calculate tooling requirements for different production runs in collaboration with production.
  • Conduct bi-weekly R&D meetings and track project updates.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees with production.
  • Calculate and track PTI’s emissions in compliance with NC DEQ permit.
