The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for managing and controlling project costs throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects stay within budget and meet deadlines. This role involves developing detailed cost estimates for projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and other resources, and working closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members for cost control and efficient resource allocation. The engineer will also analyze and select appropriate packaging that protects the product, meets marketing goals, and aligns with sustainability objectives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure packaging aligns with product development, manufacturing, marketing, and supply chain goals. Additionally, they will provide packaging information of current or future products into customer web portals. The role requires applying engineering principles and analytical techniques to establish and continuously improve manufacturing processes and products, assisting the Process Line Manager in budget development, and evaluating new products for manufacturing feasibility. Responsibilities include following up on Customer Specific Requirements (CSR), estimating production rates, setup and tooling costs, and handling/storing hazardous waste in compliance with regulations. The position may involve specific authorities granted by the Manager and requires adherence to the Tenneco Integrity Policy and the plant’s safety policy, conforming to ISO 14001 standards, and reporting any non-conformities or safety concerns.
