Manufacturing Engineer, Electromagnetic Warfare

Anduril•Irvine, CA
•$129,000 - $171,000

About The Position

Anduril’s Manufacturing team is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) team, which rapidly iterates and builds defense hardware. The role may own some or all of the manufacturing value chain for assigned hardware, including design for manufacturability, tool design and selection, process creation and optimization, vendor interaction, quality planning, and production documentation. The Manufacturing Engineer drives process improvements, supports high-quality production and new-product development, and helps optimize costs and efficiency while developing products and scaling them to full production. The position works across assembly, integration and test (AI&T) for electromechanical assemblies; partners with quality and design engineering teams; develops manufacturing processes and documentation; and works with contract manufacturers to establish repeatable processes for both quick-turn development and at-scale production. It also involves hands-on work with technicians and engineers to build prototype hardware and may contribute to mechanical or electrical design for end-customer hardware.

Requirements

  • Degree in a technical field is preferred, such as engineering, math, or a hard science.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in a resource-constrained environment.
  • Experience with harness or PCBA design review.
  • Personal hands-on experience manufacturing hardware by methods such as soldering, SMT, harnessing, or box assembly.
  • Prior experience with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), Oracle (ERP), or equivalents.
  • Genuine interest in manufacturing and eagerness to learn.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Work on personal or extracurricular projects.
  • Experience with RF products requiring system assembly, integration, and test (AI&T).
  • Exposure to or interest in scaling product testing and production.
  • Hands-on experience with software and firmware flashing or end-of-line testing and troubleshooting.
  • Software scripting experience in any language.

Responsibilities

  • Own some or all of the manufacturing value chain, including assembly, integration and test (AI&T) for electromechanical assemblies.
  • Drive operational excellence through continuous improvement and lead impactful Kaizen events.
  • Partner with Product Quality Engineering on root cause and corrective action (RCCA) burndowns addressing internal and external production issues.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering throughout product development to provide design-for-X (DFx) input and support smooth new-product introduction (NPI) transitions.
  • Develop process flows that break complex assemblies into logical subassemblies and subprocesses.
  • Create manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements.
  • Work with contract manufacturers across disciplines such as PCBA fabrication, harnesses, electrical COTS/MOTS, antennas, and radios to develop repeatable processes for quick-turn development and production at scale.
  • Work hands-on with technicians and other engineers to build prototype hardware.
  • Contribute to mechanical or electrical design of end-customer hardware, including interconnects, board fabrication, and inspection.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, available at little to no cost to employees.
