About The Position

Corporate Manufacturing Engineering is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Manufacturing Assembly Process Engineer III to serve as a technical leader and mentor within the Corporate Manufacturing Engineering organization. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment and enjoys balancing multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders simultaneously. The successful candidate will lead complex manufacturing initiatives, coach and develop engineers, drive project execution, and provide technical leadership across assembly operations. The ideal candidate is hands-on, energetic, adaptable, and self-directed. They can quickly transition between strategic planning and shop-floor problem solving while maintaining focus on safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field and 5-7 years of relevant experience required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, assembly engineering, industrial engineering, or related disciplines.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • At least 2 years of experience supporting manufacturing launches, process improvements, or capital projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, formulas, pivot tables, and dashboard development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint with the ability to create professional presentations, organize complex information, and deliver clear, effective messaging to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25%, including visits to manufacturing facilities, suppliers, and project locations as needed.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, assembly layouts, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Experience developing or reviewing manufacturing layouts, tooling concepts, workstation designs, or assembly process flows.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams, and other manufacturing quality tools.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting truck, automotive, heavy equipment, or high-volume manufacturing operations.
  • Experience with safety-critical processes, torque-controlled fastening systems, tooling, automation, or controls.
  • Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar design tools.
  • Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical teams.
  • Spanish language proficiency (written and verbal) is a plus.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams, including operations in Mexico and North America.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of assembly manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Manufacturing Engineers across multiple locations.
  • Support safety-critical manufacturing systems, tooling, assembly processes, and controls.
  • Drive root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure process designs meet safety, quality, productivity, and ergonomic requirements.
  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously from concept through implementation.
  • Manage schedules, risks, budgets, resource requirements, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Partner with Design Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, and Plant teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Identify project risks early and develop mitigation plans to maintain timing and deliverables.
  • Drive accountability and execution across cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to engineers by providing guidance on technical problem-solving, project execution, communication, and professional development.
  • Help develop engineering talent and support career growth.
  • Foster collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Lead by example in professionalism, communication, and accountability.
  • Develop manufacturing strategies and roadmaps that support future business needs, operational efficiencies, and technology advancement.
  • Identify long-term opportunities, risks, capacity constraints, and process improvements to support organizational objectives.
  • Recommend long-term solutions rather than focusing solely on immediate corrective actions.
  • Evaluate future manufacturing requirements and develop implementation strategies to support new products, changing regulations, and evolving production needs.
  • Drive standardization, Lean Manufacturing principles, and best practices across plants while translating business goals into actionable engineering plans.
