About The Position

Inside the Role Chassis Manufacturing Engineering brings together diverse engineering expertise (mechanical/manufacturing), hands-on vehicle product knowledge, and applied project management. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and technologies, strengthen capability across the Pre-Paint and Mid Chassis ME team, and support department-wide knowledge growth. Daimler Trucks is seeking an experienced engineer to innovate and develop vehicle assembly processes that deliver high quality and customer-leading features. You will work closely with a team of Manufacturing Engineers to execute both product and non-product projects across the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field with 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • Solution-oriented, organized, and analytical, with strong ethics and a track record of building effective working relationships.
  • Strong understanding of applied engineering principles and the ability to implement technologies, techniques, procedures, and equipment in a manufacturing environment (vehicle electronics programming systems or related engineered components).
  • Proven cross-functional teamwork and collaboration.
  • Understanding of engineering processes and downstream manufacturing impacts.
  • Demonstrated root-cause problem-solving for complex issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lead large, Category 1 product projects.
  • Knowledge of vehicle manufacturing processes.
  • Willingness to travel within the US and Mexico (up to 20%).

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of electrical/electronic hardware and software; able to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues.
  • Spanish fluency.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to develop and execute long-term strategy for truck manufacturing facilities.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering leadership across product projects (PP) and non-product projects (NPP) from concept through implementation, using reference factory metrics to drive measurable improvements.
  • Support the leadership team in modernizing brownfield facilities using Reference Factory principles, with focus on facility modernization, connected systems, Factory 2033, Industry 4.0, and MCS.
  • For assigned projects, lead execution through design reviews and procurement, including budget development/justification, equipment acquisition, facility readiness, tryout, installation, labor standards, and training coordination.
  • Use concurrent engineering to identify and mitigate production risks before plant implementation.
  • Apply advanced manufacturing technologies, including machine control systems and automation, within Freightliner manufacturing processes.
  • Provide technical guidance on equipment and component specification, acquisition, and installation to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing issues as they arise at DTNA plants and drive root-cause/corrective action.
  • Assess current assembly processes and develop/validate capital investment plans for future production needs.
  • Solve complex problems using strong analytical thinking and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Serve as a technical resource/mentor, contributing to standards and best practices used by others.
  • Advise management and key external stakeholders on broad, high-impact projects.
