The Mobile Inspector is a key member of Manheim’s Mobile Inspections team, conducting on-site vehicle condition inspections for dealer clients within an assigned territory. The role documents vehicle condition accurately, thoroughly, and promptly according to Manheim standards, supporting client trust, marketplace transparency, and inventory flow. Mobile Inspectors build dealer relationships through professional, high-quality service, represent Cox Automotive, and engage dealers to grow participation in Manheim’s mobile inspection services. The position requires minimal supervision, increasing independence, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills. Candidates may be hired as a Level 1, Level 2, or Senior Mobile Inspector, depending on experience, qualifications, and business need. Responsibilities and qualifications vary by level. The role is remote in the sense that the employee can work remotely, but must live in the specified city, state, or region. It involves on-site work at dealer client lots and use of a personal vehicle for business, for which reimbursement is provided. The scheduled work shift is day shift, and the posting lists no travel percentage. Compensation varies by level. The overall stated hourly base pay range is $15.10–$22.69, with individual level ranges also listed in the posting. The role may include additional compensation such as commission or an incentive program. A monthly performance incentive is based on inspection volume; the posting states that target performers can earn approximately $750 per month and top performers $1,000 or more per month. Incentives are guaranteed during the first three full months under the terms described in the posting. All levels inspect and document vehicle condition, verify vehicle information, safely locate, start, move, inspect, and return vehicles on dealer lots, engage dealer clients, manage schedules and territory activity, submit reports, use Salesforce.com, collaborate with Manheim teams, and follow safety and inspection standards. Level 1 is an entry-level role focused on inspections under established processes and learning standards and client practices. Level 2 independently manages inspection activity and supports territory growth. The Senior level performs advanced inspections, mentors peers, and serves as a resource on inspection standards and best practices. Employment requires a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment marijuana test for this position, but prohibits possession, use, or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property, or in company vehicles. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship; OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT, and visa sponsorship are not available.
