About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Managing Scientist for their Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice. This role involves project management, providing Federal and State regulatory and technical expertise, leading projects, identifying new clients, nurturing existing client relationships, and developing new business in the regulatory sector. It's an opportunity for an experienced consultant to collaborate with senior staff and subject matter experts to expand their consulting practice.

Requirements

  • B.S. is required.
  • Five (5) or more years of EPA TSCA regulatory experience.
  • Knowledge, solid understanding, and practical experience with U.S. EPA TSCA regulations for chemicals.
  • Five (5) or more years of consulting or government regulatory experience.
  • Solid background in regulatory compliance and risk assessment related to product stewardship and sustainability.
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to independently prepare, edit, and proofread technical and regulatory documents.
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and manage time effectively.
  • Strong ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Nice To Haves

  • M.S. or Ph.D. degree in a science-related field is preferred.
  • Experience with project management, budget tracking, and invoicing a plus.
  • Exposure to sensitive information will necessitate considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion, and judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing regulatory compliance and risk assessment support for product stewardship and sustainability projects across a range of industries.
  • Developing clients through business development and marketing efforts.
  • Client management and project work; interacting directly with clients and regulators.
  • Managing and tracking client projects, project deliverables, invoices, and budgets.
  • Providing regulatory and technical review and quality control support for projects.
  • Synthesizing technical and regulatory information for clients and regulators.
  • Providing scientific technical peer review.
  • Mentoring junior staff.
