About The Position

The Good Table is a restaurant in the heart of Cape Elizabeth that offers a place to slow down, catch up, and eat something made with care. They serve Bard Coffee, pizzas made to order, and a rotating selection of pastries alongside grab-and-go options. As part of the Prentice Hospitality Group, The Good Table reflects the same commitment to genuine hospitality and quality that the group is known for, but in a quicker fashion.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of kitchen/management leadership experience
  • Comfortable leading a small team with a direct, positive style
  • Strong grasp of food cost, ordering, and inventory basics
  • High standards for food quality, cleanliness, and consistency
  • Calm under pressure
  • ServSafe Manager certification required (or willing to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Work the line alongside the team — this is a hands-on role, not a desk job
  • Build and manage weekly schedules, coordinate coverage, and handle shift adjustments
  • Oversee daily prep, station setup, and service execution — making sure every shift starts and ends right
  • Oversee beer and wine component
  • Manage ordering, inventory, and supplier relationships — keeping stock levels right without over-ordering
  • Keep a close eye on food cost, waste, and portion control — and flag issues before they become problems
  • Onboard and develop staff — set the tone for a culture of accountability and mutual respect
  • Own food safety and sanitation standards — lead by example and ensure the whole team follows suit
  • Serve as the main point of contact between kitchen operations and ownership/management
