About The Position

The Good Table is a restaurant in the heart of Cape Elizabeth that offers Bard Coffee, pizzas made to order, and a rotating selection of pastries alongside grab-and-go options. As part of the Prentice Hospitality Group, The Good Table provides genuine hospitality and quality in a quicker fashion. This role is for a skilled, dependable Full-Time Seasonal Cook who thrives in a focused, efficient kitchen environment. The position focuses on executing a smaller menu exceptionally well, including sandwiches, personal pizzas, soups, salads, and lighter plates made with quality ingredients and attention to detail. This is a seasonal role from June to October.

Requirements

At least 1 year of kitchen or food prep experience
Calm and efficient under pressure during a rush
Strong attention to detail and portion consistency
A genuine respect for good ingredients and clean technique
Reliable, punctual, and a solid team player

Responsibilities

Prepare and assemble menu items to order — sandwiches, pizzas, flatbreads, soups, salads, and rotating seasonal plates
Execute orders accurately and efficiently, maintaining quality and consistency throughout service
Complete daily prep work — slicing, portioning, saucing, and stocking stations before service begins
Follow proper food handling, storage, and temperature guidelines
Keep your station clean, organized, and ready — before, during, and at the close of every shift
Monitor inventory, flag low stock, and help minimize waste through smart prep and rotation
Communicate clearly with front-of-house during service to keep things running smoothly
