About The Position

The Director of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church is a part-time, 12-month salaried position reporting directly to the Pastor. This role leads a growing Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) program serving over 100 children from toddler through Level III. Rooted in a Montessori-based approach to faith formation, the program fosters children’s encounter with God through Scripture, liturgy, and hands-on learning. The Director collaborates with parents, staff, catechists, and volunteers to guide children in deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ while creating a welcoming and spiritually rich parish environment.

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic with a deep personal commitment to the faith and relationship with God
  • Strong understanding of the Montessori approach to education
  • Prior experience serving as a catechist in a CGS atrium
  • Demonstrated leadership and management experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with parents, children, staff, and volunteers
  • Patience, adaptability, and the ability to foster meaningful relationships within a faith community

Nice To Haves

  • Level III Catechesis of the Good Shepherd formation preferred or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate approximately 10 CGS classes per week and oversee sacramental preparation for children ages 0–12
  • Lead and support a team of 25+ catechists, assistants, and volunteers in faith formation efforts
  • Recruit, onboard, orient, and provide ongoing formation and development for catechists and atrium assistants
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain CGS materials, including atrium setup and ongoing environment care
  • Manage program budget, tuition collection, and financial oversight
  • Coordinate logistics and facility usage for off-campus program location (currently St. Monica in Creve Coeur)
  • Oversee program communications across multiple platforms (website, bulletin, newsletters)
  • Plan and implement family engagement events to build community within the CGS program
  • Create a nurturing, prayerful environment where children can grow in faith
  • Guide children in prayer, Scripture reflection, and liturgical celebrations
  • Provide individualized support to meet the developmental and spiritual needs of each child
  • Serve as a resource to support other parishes and schools interested in CGS program development
