The Manager of the Houston Fabrication Shop will provide leadership and oversight of all shop operations, including the development and implementation of efficient, sustainable business processes and systems. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing fabrication and repair work on structures, tanks, and other oilfield equipment, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and operational excellence. The position reports directly to the Director of the Houston Rig-Up Yard. Collaborate with Management and Human Resources to develop and implement flexible workforce strategies that address the challenges of recruiting and retaining fabrication shop personnel in a highly cyclical industry environment. Develop fabrication procedures and establish clear quality standards; implement robust Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) processes to ensure all work is compliant. Develop supply chain and procurement operations to support the fabrication facility. Work with Engineering to ensure an efficient method of drawing management is deployed, including methods to capture anomalies or errors in drawings and have them corrected. Champion a culture that is committed to maintaining the highest safety standards and adhering to all Company HSE policies. Focus on continuous improvement, identifying ways to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining the highest quality standards. Demonstrate strong problem solving skills; effectively work under pressure and establish a sense of urgency with time sensitive project deliverables. Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for facility assets. Oversee fabrication shop personnel and operations on a daily basis to provide work assignments and ensure materials are available for job completion. Coordinate the proper utilization of third party contractors and services. Maintain an appropriate level of spare and replacement parts inventory to support shop operations. Develop, manage, and report on all aspects of the facility budget. Provide timely reports on all shop projects with estimated completion time(s). Evaluate and review shop personnel as required by company policy; review personnel assignments for work quality and follow-up with performance improvement.
