This is a 20-month fixed term contract. Reporting to the Senior Director, Total Rewards and HR Operations, the Manager, Total Rewards provides subject matter expertise in job architecture, job evaluation, compensation and total rewards, ensuring programs are equitable, defensible, and aligned with organizational strategy and industry best practices. Working closely with the Senior Director and HR partners, the incumbent leads job evaluation and salary review cycles, and supports executive and year‑end processes. The role enhances job architecture frameworks to support internal mobility, career pathing, and skills enablement, while ensuring pay equity compliance and effective HRIS integration. Acting as a central Total Rewards resource, the position advises on compensation matters, benefit program design and vendor management, and contributes to policy development and continuous improvement of HR processes to strengthen the employee experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience as a compensation manager with experience in benefits administration considered an asset
  • Knowledge of human resources processes, policies, best practices, and legislation
  • Experience working with HR Information Systems (experience with Workday would be considered an asset)
  • In-depth level knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in an organized manner
  • Creativity and demonstrated ability working in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of change and ambiguity
  • Ability to think proactively, critically, and independently to make sound decisions
  • Good judgement and discretion with highly confidential and sensitive information
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to a high degree of accuracy

  • Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP or CHRL) designation is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise related to job architecture.
  • Enhance the existing job architecture framework to reflect evolving organizational needs and industry best practices. Including enhancements to enable internal mobility, talent development, career pathing and skills enablement.
  • Work closely with the HR Operations and IT teams as it relates to the organization’s job architecture, advising on changes as required to meet evolving organizational needs
  • Accountable for the maintenance and enhancement of the job evaluation framework to ensure it is equitable, defensible, and supports the needs of the business.
  • Lead the job evaluation process, managing intake, output and communication to key stakeholders to ensure pay equity compliance.
  • Provide advice to HR partners on compensation issues and support them in their efforts in communicating with senior leadership on compensation practices.
  • Act as a central point of contact responding to internal and external TR-related inquiries or requests, providing assistance or triaging as appropriate.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of required policies and procedures, employment legislation, and IMCO’s benefit and pension plans to effectively respond to employee inquiries.
  • In collaboration with HR partners, identify, develop, advise and propose solutions/enhancements related to internal HR processes.
  • Collaborate on requirements for core HRIS systems, to meet corporate and business needs.
  • Participate in annual projects/initiatives, as assigned.
  • Work collaboratively with HR and Communications teams to develop and implement effective communication and change management plans to enhance the employee experience.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the industry including trends, concepts, policies, procedures, and best practices related to benefits programs.
  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Total Rewards and HR Operations, lead the review of benefit programs.
  • Provide data-driven insights based on market research and employee engagement results.
  • Manage the implementation of changes to benefit programs, including communication plans.
  • Support in the drafting of compensation and benefits related policies and procedures, monitoring regulatory changes, and assessing program efficiency, and providing recommendations for improvements.
  • Support in the updating of Total Rewards policies on an annual basis (or as required), soliciting feedback from various stakeholders across the organization (e.g. HR, Legal, Compliance).
  • Maintain total rewards partner relationships and associated events and programs.
  • Conduct RFPs for Total Rewards program providers, making recommendations and exercising influence for change, to ensure ongoing due diligence related to vendor relationships.
  • Working closely with the Senior Director, Total Rewards and HR Operations, manage the annual salary, promotion and executive compensation review cycles within budget and per program principles, ensuring all programs are administered in accordance with IMCO’s compensation philosophy.
  • Partner with the Senior Director, Total Rewards and HR Operations in the preparation of HRCC materials, including presenting data findings and managing follow-up requests arising from meetings.
  • Collect and maintain publicly disclosed peer data related to compensation practices, interpreting information to provide meaningful insights to senior HR leadership.
  • Provide operational support, as needed, during the annual year-end performance management cycle.
  • Develop compensation recommendations for external hires and internal movements, supported by external market and internal peer analysis, as required.
