About The Position

The Technical Operations - Production Manager triages VFX and visualization work for production and pipeline teams, working closely with clients, producers, supervisors, artists, engineering, IT, and infrastructure teams. The role owns delivery operations, media encoding, and deliverables based on client technical specifications, and manages archiving, technical server setups, delivery platforms, and related technical content requirements. It requires urgency and willingness to troubleshoot issues, including after hours, in line with production timelines, along with adaptability as file formats, delivery structures, and client-facing documentation needs evolve. The position manages delivery-related requests and process improvements, coordinates technical issues through resolution, maintains production tracking systems, and supports production tools and infrastructure. It identifies opportunities to improve workflows, streamline processes, and apply emerging technologies to production challenges. This is an operational role focused on systems, show running, and process improvement rather than software development. The role is expected to last six months or less, with the possibility of extension, and is based in an in-office, highly collaborative production environment.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience in production operations, technical production coordination, pipeline support, VFX, visualization, post-production, or a related studio environment.
  • Demonstrated client-facing experience, including understanding production needs, communicating clearly, managing expectations, and coordinating follow-through across technical and creative teams.
  • Working familiarity with ShotGrid / Flow Production Tracking or similar production databases.
  • Experience with Jira or similar project-tracking systems and ServiceNow or comparable IT service-management tools.
  • Experience managing technical requests and projects across production, engineering, IT, infrastructure, security, and other partner teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, written and verbal communication, documentation, meeting facilitation, and action-item management.
  • Technical fluency and ability to understand production workflows, communicate technical issues effectively, and collaborate with specialists to resolve problems and improve systems.
  • Proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies, improving processes, exploring emerging technologies, and finding practical ways to enhance production workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent requests and priorities while maintaining accurate records and consistent communication.
  • Comfort working in an in-office, highly collaborative production environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting VFX, visualization, previs, techvis, real-time production, animation, post-production, or related creative workflows.
  • Experience working in a color facility or familiarity with color-managed production and post-production workflows.
  • Competence with production and media applications such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, or comparable tools.
  • Experience spearheading media delivery workflows, production technology systems, software licensing, and license-server setups and maintenance.
  • Competence with Confluence or similar documentation platforms, as well as Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other standard business applications.
  • Experience identifying workflow automation or process-improvement opportunities and coordinating their implementation with technical partners.
  • Interest in evaluating emerging production technologies and applying new tools and approaches to real-world operational challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Manage delivery operations and workflow improvements, including hands-on management of ingest and deliveries; identify opportunities to streamline or automate recurring workflows and collaborate with technical partners to implement improvements.
  • Strategize with pipeline engineers on related features and automation opportunities, and track production-related requests and dependencies.
  • Create technical support intakes and manage follow-through in Jira, ServiceNow, and related systems; track progress and details, determine priorities, communicate status, and escalate as needed.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between production teams and IT, infrastructure, firewall, security, and other technical partners.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of ShotGrid / Flow Production Tracking or similar production databases, including shots, assets, tasks, versions, assignments, statuses, notes, dependencies, and handoffs.
  • Update software licensing access, including license-server updates, access requests, and related production technology needs; drive new tooling and UI features as needed.
  • Manage technical initiatives that improve production workflows, tools, delivery processes, and operational reliability, including requirements, stakeholder communication, milestones, action items, and follow-through across teams.
  • Lead production reviews, meetings, and demonstrations; capture and publish accurate notes, maintain action items, communicate updates, and help ensure client and production needs are understood and addressed.
  • Create and manage technical documentation for new tools and features, own Confluence and Jira databases, and drive artist training on new technologies with pipeline teams, including live calls, video creation, and team use of training resources.
