Sweet James•Newport Beach, CA
•$150,000 - $180,000•Onsite

About The Position

Sweet James Accident Attorneys is seeking a Manager, Strategy & Operations to work alongside the Chief of Staff on the firm's highest-priority problems. This is an execution-focused role: the manager owns initiatives from diagnosis through implementation and is measured on business outcomes. Assignments rotate across contact center and operational performance, organizational design, technology and product initiatives, and executive-team growth priorities. As the firm scales, the role offers a path to owning a function or domain outright. The work calls for a generalist comfortable building analytical models, running projects, and persuading functions to change how they work. The position is based on-site at Sweet James Headquarters in Newport Beach, California, within the Office of the CEO, and reports to the Chief of Staff.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in management consulting at a top-tier firm, business operations or strategy at a high-growth company, corporate transformation, or a private equity operations group.
  • Strong quantitative and modeling ability, including the ability to build models independently and defend their assumptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance work across functions without formal authority.
  • Structured problem-solving ability and blue-sky thinking, including framing ambiguous problems and imagining materially different solutions.
  • Discretion and maturity in handling sensitive commercial, organizational, and strategic matters.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading a small team or workstream as an engagement manager, project leader, or equivalent.
  • Experience with engagements where compensation or fees were tied to results, or staying through implementation rather than handing off after recommendations.
  • Academic or professional grounding in analytics, computer science, or engineering.
  • Experience with technology clients or software development employers, with working knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience in rapidly scaling businesses in a growth context.

Responsibilities

  • Identify areas of underperformance, structure problems, and define success measures.
  • Build models and business cases, size opportunities, and independently gather and analyze data to inform executive decisions.
  • Lead implementation through operational change and measured outcomes.
  • Drive progress across functions without formal authority, building credibility by understanding operators' work.
  • Turn successful initiatives into repeatable systems and transition them to the function responsible for ownership.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership on technology and product prioritization, roadmaps, and delivery.
  • Translate analysis into clear recommendations for the Chief of Staff, CEO, and executive team.
