About The Position

The Manager, Strategic Partnerships & Specialty Pharmacy is responsible for driving growth, access, and operational excellence within the specialty pharmacy business. This role focuses on expanding Neighbourly Pharmacy’s specialty footprint nationally by building strategic brand partnerships, optimizing procurement and distribution of high-cost medications, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements. The position collaborates cross-functionally to enhance patient access, improve financial performance, and support innovative program development. The Manager leads complex initiatives through influence, strong relationships, and clear ways of working, while operating with a high degree of accountability and comfort in ambiguity. Compensation listed is a starting point only and will be determined based on candidate experience.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary education in Business, Pharmacy, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree is an asset)
  • 5+ years of experience in specialty pharmacy, pharmaceutical industry, or healthcare strategy
  • Strong understanding of high-cost drug distribution, reimbursement, and patient support programs
  • Experience with procurement strategy, vendor negotiations, and financial performance optimization
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including ADR reporting and compliance standards
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, build trusted partnerships, and navigate complex, cross-functional environments
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, manage competing priorities, and operate effectively in ambiguity
  • Experience using data, analytics, and artificial intelligence tools to improve efficiency and decision making

Responsibilities

  • Identify and establish strategic partnerships to support the dispensing and distribution of high-cost and specialty medications, with a focus on national expansion.
  • Drive initiatives to grow Neighbourly Pharmacy’s specialty pharmacy presence across Canada.
  • Collaborate with pharmaceutical manufacturers to uncover niche opportunities and design innovative pharmacy programs, including infusion services fees.
  • Lead negotiations and provide guidance on Patient Support Programs (PSPs) to enhance patient access and adherence.
  • Liaise with pharmacy payors and stakeholders to secure reimbursement coverage for specialty and rare disease therapies.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for high-cost drugs to support EBITDA and overall business performance.
  • Support pharmacies in sourcing and procuring specialty medications efficiently, consistently, and cost-effectively.
  • Identify and evaluate partnership opportunities related to pharmacy consumables procurement.
  • Assess and optimize warehouse space and inventory management practices to improve procurement efficiency, reduce risk, and support national scale.
  • Ensure warehouse operations comply with manufacturer standards and established guardrails.
  • Establish and embed clear ways of working across internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution of strategic initiatives.
  • Support pharmacies in meeting regulatory and manufacturer requirements, including adverse drug reaction (ADR) reporting and compliance guidelines.
  • Partner with internal teams (e.g., operations, finance, clinical, logistics) to deliver integrated end-to-end specialty pharmacy solutions and improve service delivery.
  • Identify and secure funding opportunities to support the development and sustainable growth of specialty pharmacy programs.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of innovative patient-centric pharmacy programs that improve access, experience and outcomes.
  • Use analytical and artificial intelligence tools to assess opportunities, forecast impact, and support evidence-based decision making.
