Manager, Strategic Finance

Triumvirate Environmental•Somerville, MA

About The Position

Triumvirate Environmental (TEI), a Berkshire Partners-backed environmental services company, is building its FP&A capabilities around proactive analytics, private-equity-grade reporting, and data infrastructure. The Manager, Strategic Finance owns analysis supporting acquisition performance, pricing and margin, capital allocation, and the sponsor’s view of value creation. The role reports to the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis, works from priorities set by the VP, and provides day-to-day direction and review for one analyst. It regularly interfaces with the CFO, the CTrO’s M&A team, the CRO, operating leaders, and sponsor audiences. The work combines project-based strategic finance with ongoing finance reporting and dashboards, and its scope is expected to grow as the company expands organically and through acquisitions. The role is fully onsite for the first 90 days; afterward, it follows a hybrid schedule approved by the manager and Human Resources. Initial priorities include assessing pricing opportunities and price-volume-mix, establishing deal-model and synergy tracking with the M&A team, agreeing strategic workstream responsibilities with the VP, taking ownership of finance-specific Power BI reporting, and addressing data inconsistencies between Oracle Fusion and Excel models. Triumvirate Environmental provides compliance-management services and expertise to organizations in higher education, life sciences, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing. The company describes its culture as focused on employee and customer experience, growth, development, education, and creativity.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate development, or investment banking; experience in a multi-unit or acquisitive operating environment is sought ideally.
  • Track record of owning complex, project-based analyses from scoping through delivery to senior stakeholders with minimal rework.
  • Experience building acquisition pro forma, integration, or transaction models and tracking results after close.
  • Demonstrated ownership of sponsor, board, or senior-executive reporting, including variance and scenario analysis.
  • Expert-level Excel financial modeling, including deal and investment-case models, driver-based forecasts, EBITDA bridges, and scenario analysis.
  • Hands-on SQL or Python and Power BI or a comparable BI tool to extract, validate, analyze, and present large, complex data sets; ability to use applied AI tools to accelerate analysis and automate recurring work.
  • Experience working with ERP-sourced financial data and reconciling it to reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to deliver work in environments with data limitations or system constraints while addressing underlying issues in parallel.
  • Ability to translate analysis into clear recommendations for non-financial stakeholders at GM, C-suite, and board levels.
  • Sound judgment in prioritization and discipline in meeting deadlines within leadership-set priorities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Ability to ramp quickly on new platforms; proficiency in systems analogous to those used by the company is acceptable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a private equity- or growth equity-backed company, including board or lender reporting; Berkshire portfolio experience is a plus but not required.
  • Environmental, field services, or asset-light services industry background.
  • Pricing, customer profitability, or capital allocation analysis experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion and an FP&A planning platform; Vena is preferred, and Adaptive, OneStream, or similar platforms are relevant.
  • Power BI data modeling experience, including DAX.
  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent advanced credential.

Responsibilities

  • Take over performance-versus-deal-model tracking at acquisition close, including synergy realization and integration variance reporting to the CFO and sponsor.
  • Build pro forma and integration reporting that incorporates acquired-company results into platform reporting, including results from entities on separate systems.
  • Support acquisition diligence and integration planning from the finance side as deal pace requires.
  • Build and maintain price-volume-mix and pricing-realization analytics; quantify rate leakage and margin opportunities across customers, service lines, and regions.
  • Track approved pricing actions against realized margin using a documented baseline.
  • Partner with the CRO and commercial leadership on customer profitability and revenue-quality analysis, including cross-sell and wallet-share opportunities.
  • Build investment cases for new markets, capacity, and capital projects, and track post-approval results against each case.
  • Support the long-range plan and five-year sub-targets by region, vertical, and growth lever, including organic growth, price, volume, M&A, and new markets.
  • Maintain current sponsor value-creation analysis and supporting materials.
  • Deliver scenario and sensitivity analysis for decisions concerning pricing, capacity, M&A, and capital allocation.
  • Own custom finance-specific reporting and dashboards primarily serving the CFO, VP of FP&A, or sponsor reporting.
  • Use SQL, Python, and Power BI to extract, validate, and analyze large financial and operational data sets for deal, pricing, and investment work.
  • Build repeatable reporting processes that reduce reliance on manual Excel workbooks over time and validate outputs against the source of truth.
  • Partner with the IT data organization on definitions, data quality, and requirements; enterprise data architecture and dashboards are owned by that organization.
  • Serve as finance partner to the CTrO’s M&A team and operating and commercial leaders on strategic workstreams.
  • Execute strategic workstreams within the division of responsibility set by the VP; budget approval, headcount, company-wide forecast assumptions, and final priorities remain with the VP.
  • Provide day-to-day direction and review for one analyst, assigning work against the VP’s priorities.
  • Translate analysis into clear recommendations for non-financial stakeholders across operations, sales, M&A, and executive leadership.
  • In the first 90 days, deliver a validated pricing opportunity assessment and initial price-volume-mix analysis with actions and owners; agree on deal-model tracking and prepare a synergy and integration tracking approach; establish workstream priorities and decision rights with the VP; take ownership of finance-specific Power BI reporting and dashboards; and identify and address data inconsistencies affecting analysis.
