Manager, Stadium Operations
About The Position
The Manager, Stadium Operations is responsible for overall stadium maintenance at Excite Ballpark, including cleaning, groundskeeping, equipment inventory and upkeep, parking, EMTs, and security. The role provides administrative and managerial oversight of the department and implements a comprehensive maintenance program to operate the ballpark at professional standards. It helps ensure stadium and team assets remain in good working condition, maintains an inventory of operational assets, protects them from unnecessary weathering, and recommends budgets for replacing items near the end of their lifespan. The manager delivers a clean, safe environment for fans, staff, and players, including storage and back-of-house areas, and coordinates required inspections and maintenance contracts. Responsibilities span pre-event preparation, year-round cleaning, preseason preparation and postseason winterization, repairs and renovations, and operations for games and other events. The manager must be onsite for all San Jose Giants baseball games and other ballpark events to ensure operational integrity.
Requirements
- Degree in Sports Management or a related field and/or at least 3 years of experience in an operations role for a professional sports team.
- Knowledge of basic mechanical and plumbing operations.
- High attention to detail and pride in quality of work.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Ability to engage in strenuous activity, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain showers.

- Experience managing events in a sports or entertainment facility.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and managerial oversight of the stadium operations department.
- Implement a comprehensive maintenance program to operate the ballpark at professional standards.
- Keep stadium and team assets in ideal working condition, maintain an inventory of operational assets, protect assets from unnecessary weathering, and budget for replacement of items nearing the end of their lifespan.
- Deliver a clean and safe environment for fans, staff, and players, including storage and back-of-house areas.
- Coordinate required inspections and maintenance contracts, including those for fire suppression systems, fire extinguishers, inflatables, and security systems.
- Prepare the stadium before games and special events and ensure it is cleaned year-round.
- Coordinate preseason preparation and postseason winterization.
- Coordinate with the City of San Jose and contractors to facilitate stadium repairs and renovations.
- Coordinate with the security vendor to ensure coverage during events and overnight.
- Coordinate with the EMT vendor to ensure coverage during events and overnight.
- Oversee San Jose Giants parking operations and personnel.
- Provide ballclub leadership with annual recommendations for stadium facility and equipment repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
- Oversee maintenance of San Jose Giants food and beverage facilities and equipment.
- Be onsite for all San Jose Giants baseball games and other ballpark events to ensure operational integrity.
- Communicate clearly and work effectively with superiors and fellow employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
