About The Position

The Manager, Security is responsible for providing administrative support, training, operations, and management of parking, transportation, valet, and contract security staff, including coordination for physical security, automated access control system, Intrusion Detection System, and CCTV. This position is assigned to maintain and monitor the enforcement of hospital policy and procedures for the safety and security of facilities, patients, visitors, students, and staff to maintain a safe and secure work environment. Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the department and Regional One Health.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in security management, business management, criminal justice, or related field required.
  • High School Diploma with experience in security management, business management, security, law enforcement, or military may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Shall not have been convicted of any alcohol or drug related offenses within the last 3 years.
  • Trained and licensed under Tennessee law as an armed security guard or attain within six (6) months of employment.
  • Trained, licensed, and permitted to carry a concealed handgun within 180 Days.
  • At least 6 years experience of security, law enforcement, or equivalent military experience required with a minimum of three years (3) years in management required.

Nice To Haves

  • DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State
  • CPI trained in crisis prevention & intervention is preferred.
  • Certified Hospital Security Supervisor(CHSS) International Association for Healthcare Security
  • Industrial Security Professional (IS) Certified Protection Professional or Physical Security Professional certified by American Society for Industrial Security
  • Experience in hospital setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Apprise Security leadership of all activities, pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval.
  • Assess systems, alarms, and other physical security measures for effectiveness.
  • Oversee the management of access control systems, badge management systems, visitor management system, surveillance technology, and intrusion detection system (IDS).
  • Manage physical security systems and vendors ensuring responsiveness to ensure all systems operate as designed.
  • Take initiative in developing efficient work processes.
  • Perform risk assessments, analyze metrics and trends to align resources and staffing to proactively reduce incidents and mitigate risks.
  • Maintain current awareness of Security needs and meet standards and requirements to provide effective security, parking, and transportation services in compliance with organizational, Joint Commission, state and local laws, standards, practices, and protocols.
  • Establish programs/services and implement operational procedures to ensure a timely and appropriate response to alarms, issues, requests and inquiries about security and/or parking services.
  • Coordinate, manage and monitor security activities to provide a safe/secure work environment.
  • Ensure that crime suppression/prevention and loss prevention steps are taken by regular patrolling and incident investigations.
  • Research and coordinate special projects that are not feasible for the shift supervisors’ involvement at the planning stages.
  • Ensure customer/guest relations program objectives are met by continuously monitoring department activities and resolving complaints.
  • Make changes and recommendations to improve operations and services.
  • Compile, prepare and maintain records, reports, and files for administrative and compliance purposes.
  • Coordinate and ensure that training goals are accomplished to maintain competent performance within the department and enhance hospital staff awareness of security policies and procedures.
  • Manage, develop, and motivate direct reports to ensure that a capable, productive staff exists within Security.
  • Evaluate performance; initiates and recommends personnel actions such as hiring, promotion, disciplinary action, and/or termination in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Attends appropriate training and continuing education programs to maintain competency in skills, knowledge, and equipment.
  • Manage shift schedules.
  • Work all shifts, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed.
