Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field (MBA/MS preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in sales, business development, or technical commercial roles.
  • Significant experience in the building and construction industry; direct experience in decking/outdoor living strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of adhesive chemistries and their real‑world applications.
  • Proven success selling through multiple channels: direct, distribution, big box retail, and private label.
  • Experience managing distribution relationships and private label programs.
  • Strong financial acumen, including P&L ownership.
  • Experience with application development and collaboration with engineering/R&D teams.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and long lead‑time supply chains.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience (Salesforce preferred).
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively (60–70%), including international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a comprehensive strategy to grow MCG across direct sales, distribution, big box retail, private label, and application‑specific markets.
  • Identify and prioritize new markets, segments, and partners to reduce customer concentration risk.
  • Lead prospecting, pipeline development, and new account acquisition through outreach, networking, trade events, and industry relationships.
  • Evaluate and develop private label opportunities in collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
  • Establish and manage distribution channel strategies, including partner identification, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Cultivate strong, profitable relationships with new and existing customers in the building and construction industry, especially in decking, outdoor living, and exterior surface applications.
  • Understand customer needs—both technical and commercial—and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Engage with senior executives across customer and partner organizations.
  • Represent MCG at industry conferences, trade shows, and key market events.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in adhesive technologies (acrylic, butyl, rubber‑based, and more) and their use in construction and exterior environments.
  • Maintain deep knowledge of weatherproofing solutions and emerging trends.
  • Partner with engineering and R&D to evaluate new application opportunities and assess technical feasibility.
  • Support custom application development by coordinating internal and external technical resources.
  • Develop a strong understanding of MCG’s polymer, chemical, and adhesive product portfolio.
  • Stay informed on competitive products, market trends, regulatory changes, and technical advancements.
  • Manage P&L for assigned accounts and business development initiatives.
  • Oversee working capital considerations, including inventory planning and long lead‑time supply chains.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms with customers and channel partners.
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, presentations, and quotations, including conceptual engineering estimates when needed.
  • Conduct ongoing market research to identify trends, competitive dynamics, and new application spaces—especially in weatherproofing and exterior construction.
  • Gather and communicate competitive intelligence on pricing, product positioning, and channel activity.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records of sales activities, pipeline status, and customer interactions.
  • Deliver regular reports on sales performance, business development progress, and market insights.
  • Maintain strong product and market knowledge through continuous learning.
