About The Position

This is a live-in position for an energetic and development-focused housing professional with the primary responsibility of overseeing the welfare and development of the students and student staff residing in the assigned facilities. Duties include direct supervision of RAs (Resident Assistants) and RDs, coordination of hall desk operations, residence hall programming, resident conduct, and serving on the RLH on-call duty rotation. In addition, this position will have various departmental collateral responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Two years of housing, residence life, student life/services experience.
  • StarRez, Maxient, ERezLife or willingness to learn
  • Must be able to work independently, respect confidentiality, and maintain a positive demeanor in dealing with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Work cooperatively with departmental and college leadership and colleagues to accomplish tasks, serve students, and support the College’s mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or related field.
  • A master’s degree in a student affairs area and/or housing GA experience may substitute for at least one of the required years.
  • Ability to generate solutions, collaborate with others, demonstrate initiative, and display personal resiliency.
  • Experience working with housing-related software.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as part of the Residential Life and Housing professional staff and building management teams.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate RA/RD staff as assigned.
  • Actively confront/follow up on student and staff conduct, crisis, or personnel issues and resolve them/report back to the Director or your direct supervisor promptly.
  • Serve as a role model for Residential Life and Housing student staff members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RLH departmental leadership team.
  • Respond to inquiries/e-mails and initiatives as directed by the departmental leadership team or their designees.
  • Serve on the department's professional staff on-call rotation for 24/7 crisis response.
  • Coordinate and oversee collateral departmental responsibilities as assigned, such as staff selection, RA/RD staff training, development and performance review, resident conduct/crisis issues, and overall department assessment/evaluation efforts.
  • Successfully perform assigned administrative functions for the successful operation of the assigned residence hall(s).
  • Summer responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the department, but may be primarily either residence life or operations.
