About The Position

This is a temporary position for a Manager, Property Accounting located in Woodland Hills, California. The role involves managing the accounting close process to ensure accurate and timely data related to the Company’s operations. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, 10+ years of accounting experience, and 2-4 years of supervisory experience. Yardi GL experience is required, and audit experience is preferred. The role is primarily office-based, operating in a fast-paced environment with the need for multitasking and adaptability. Availability for five days a week, potentially including weekends, is necessary. The position is part of a hybrid work policy, requiring in-person work at Essex's corporate offices.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in accounting.
10+ years of accounting experience required.
2 to 4 years of supervisory experience.
Yardi GL experience required.

Nice To Haves

Audit experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and post month-end entries relating to property operations, including accruals.
Prepare and review income statement budget to actual analysis, including addressing variance questions from Operations.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
Coordinate with Property Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Corporate Accounting staff to ensure timely closes.
Prepare disclosure schedules prepared for company’s earnings release supplements.
Assist with the quarterly audit process by providing schedules and responding to inquiries from Company’s internal and external auditors.
Assist with annual budgeting process by working with Operations and Financial Planning in preparing assigned budgets.
Other duties and special projects as needed.
