About The Position

This is a temporary position for a Manager, Property Accounting. The role involves managing the accounting close process to ensure accurate and timely data related to the Company’s operations. The position operates in a fast-paced work setting and requires the ability to multitask and adapt quickly to changing priorities. It demands availability for five days each week, with the potential for including weekends in the schedule, as necessary. The position includes in-person work requirements consistent with a hybrid policy at Essex's corporate offices.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university in accounting.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience required.
  • 2 to 4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Yardi GL experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Audit experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and post month-end entries relating to property operations, including accruals.
  • Prepare and review income statement budget to actual analysis, including addressing variance questions from Operations.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
  • Coordinate with Property Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Corporate Accounting staff to ensure timely closes.
  • Prepare disclosure schedules prepared for company’s earnings release supplements.
  • Assist with the quarterly audit process by providing schedules and responding to inquiries from Company’s internal and external auditors.
  • Assist with annual budgeting process by working with Operations and Financial Planning in preparing assigned budgets.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed.
