About The Position

Formations Inc. is seeking a Manager, Product Knowledge & Training to establish and lead a structured learning and development function. This role involves designing, developing, and delivering training programs covering product knowledge, sales, customer service, and management skills across the organization. The position will leverage internal expertise, vendor partnerships, and digital learning tools to enhance workforce capabilities. The Manager will collaborate with HR, Marketing, and other departments to identify learning needs, create curriculum, and implement training that yields tangible results. This is a hands-on role for an individual passionate about building training programs from inception and influencing employee development.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience designing and developing training using Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise 360.
  • Strong background in adult learning principles and instructional design, with the ability to translate technical or product knowledge into effective training content.
  • Working knowledge of instructional design models and frameworks, such as ADDIE and Bloom's Taxonomy.
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory (andragogy), including designing for motivation, relevance, and varied learning styles.
  • Experience applying evaluation models such as Kirkpatrick's Four Levels to measure training effectiveness and business impact.
  • Understanding of microlearning, blended learning, and scenario-based design principles.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital/blended learning delivery.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with HR, Marketing, and Director-level stakeholders.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills, with experience delivering both in-person and virtual training.
  • Self-starter who thrives building programs from the ground up in a growing, fast-moving organization.
  • Willingness to travel to branch locations as required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Human Resources, Marketing, and the Director team to define annual training priorities and a multi-year curriculum plan addressing product knowledge, sales, customer service, and supervisory/management gaps.
  • Develop comprehensive product knowledge for all Formations distribution and manufactured products, including features, functionality, and technical details.
  • Stay updated on training and development trends, adult learning strategies, and vendor product training, proposing new ideas to leadership.
  • Establish and manage relationships with external consultants, vendors, and training firms to supplement internal expertise.
  • Prepare and present periodic reports on learning and development progress to HR, Marketing, and Director-level stakeholders.
  • Conduct training needs assessments in collaboration with HR, Marketing, and Branch Operations leadership to identify skill gaps.
  • Develop and deploy e-learning content using authoring tools like Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise 360, integrated with a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Lead the Product Knowledge Specialist and work with subject matter experts to transform technical product information into accessible training content.
  • Design and facilitate supervisory and management development programs in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Continuously evaluate training effectiveness by tracking attendance, completion, and impact, and make necessary adjustments to programs.
  • Research and recommend new learning technologies and tools, such as e-learning authoring software, video editing tools, and engagement platforms.
  • Travel to branch locations as needed to deliver and support training initiatives.
  • Coordinate warehouse and manufacturing training and skill development for supervisors and lead hands.
  • Develop a mentoring program to connect warehouse/manufacturing supervisors with Director-level mentors.
