About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Manager, Product and Technology, is responsible for leading the development, evolution, and continuous improvement of BioTalent Canada’s products, systems, and technology-enabled services. This role will lead the evolution of existing products while identifying and delivering new solutions that respond to the needs of Canada’s bio-economy. The Manager, Product and Technology, plays a key role in connecting strategy to execution. Working across teams and with external partners, this role will design, build, launch, and improve products and processes. This position also manages the Technology Integration team, providing clear direction, support, and accountability for delivery. This job posting is for an existing vacancy.

  • Strong understanding of user experience (UX) and customer journey design, with the ability to translate needs into practical solutions
  • Ability to connect day-to-day execution to long-term organizational goals
  • Strong technical foundation (e.g., software development, systems integration, data or platform management), with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical specialists
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including managing, coaching and developing team members
  • Experience orchestrating delivery through external consultants, suppliers, or vendors, including procurement and relationship management, ensuring solutions meet product and user needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive work forward in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude in artificial intelligence (AI), with a commitment to continuously expanding knowledge and applying emerging AI tools and practices to enhance organizational efficiency, decision-making, and innovation
  • 5-7 years of progressive product or ecosystem management experience, including 2-3 years in a management capacity
  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant discipline such as business, technology, computer science or engineering, information systems, or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead product ownership and lifecycle management, including identifying needs, testing, launch, refinement, and scaling of products and services
  • Refine and scale existing products, and develop new products and services in collaboration with internal teams and external parties, aligning with industry needs
  • Own and optimize existing workflows, systems, and products, including managing requests, recommending priorities, and driving continuous improvement plans
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives end-to-end, ensuring alignment, clear timelines, and successful delivery across departments
  • Assess technology debt and recommend practical actions where existing systems and processes create operational risk, weaken user experience or constrain future product and AI-enabled solutions
  • Identify opportunities to enhance systems, processes, and user experiences, with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and impact
  • Lead the implementation and application of AI solutions, including identifying use cases, supporting adoption, and ensuring responsible and effective integration
  • Manage and develop the Technology Integration team, providing coaching, direction, and support to enable high performance and growth
  • Determine which products, systems and technology abilities should be developed internally and where external specialized expertise is required
  • Develop and manage a network of technology and platform partners that can be engaged to support product development
  • Act as an informed internal product and technology lead when working with external consultants and vendors, including sourcing, onboarding, and managing relationships to support product delivery and technical capabilities
  • Contribute to organizational planning, providing insights into future product opportunities, trends, and areas for improvement
