About The Position

The Manager, Operational Excellence is responsible for supporting day-to-day distribution center operations ensuring business continuity as needed with the skillset required of a Tier 1 general manager. This position drives operations excellence across supply chain operations leading a change management culture. This role is accountable for safe, compliant, and efficient execution of standard operating procedures, development of distribution center teams, and achievement of financial and operational objectives. The manager delivers world-class service to internal and external customers, monitors performance, and partners with leadership to refine processes, metrics, and training using continuous improvement principles. This position also supports enterprise emergency staffing and operational coverage needs, providing leadership and on-site support during disruptions, peak demand, or critical events to ensure continuity of operations across the network.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • 7+ Years Operations experience required
  • 5+ Years management experience required
  • Warehouse, logistics, or supply chain knowledge
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft products: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Warehouse standard operating procedures
  • Basic retail operations
  • Inventory control
  • Safety policies and procedures
  • Financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 3+ Years relevant and progressive experience in supply chain or operations leadership preferred

Responsibilities

  • Resource and lead distribution centers' day-to-day operations as required
  • Meet overall financial objectives of the distribution center compared to budget
  • Train team members in understanding distribution center financial and operational goals
  • Create and foster an environment of trust, open two-way communication, and cohesive team effort
  • Provide strategic vision and communicate organizational mission and values to the team
  • Educate team members and contract employees on customer satisfaction measures and hold them accountable to results
  • Hold monthly distribution center-wide meetings to communicate organization/distribution center wins and opportunities and speak to any questions or concerns
  • Hold one-on-one meetings with direct reports at least twice a month
  • Ensure the distribution center meets company standards on appearance, cleanliness, and functionality
  • Develop, implement, review, and enforce operational processes, policies, and procedures
  • Collaborate with sales partners to ensure delivery of exceptional customer service
  • Facilitate resolution of customer service issues
  • Manage the distribution center schedule
  • Prepare reports on distribution center financials, KPIs, business reviews, and other metrics as required by deadlines given
  • Partner with Inventory Planning to assess and forecast inventory needs
  • Conduct required physical cycle counts, review discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections
  • Provide safety and other training and periodic retraining to all team members and contract employees in the distribution center
  • Monitor employee time records and review/approve paid time off and leave of absence requests in accordance with policy and procedures
  • Recruit, interview, and participate in the hiring process for potential team members
  • Complete all required training modules and certifications prior to the due date
  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to ensure a safe work environment for all
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external contacts
  • Follow all Company policies and execute Company standards on appearance and functionality as well as appropriate brand representation
  • Communicate any concerns or issues to leadership to ensure proper efficiency of department and company operations
  • Execute team member performance improvement plans, progressive discipline, and terminations when appropriate per Company policy
  • Lead the execution of change management delivering operations excellence and standardization.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and focus groups to: Design processes that enhance enterprise capabilities, Assist with the creation of and updates to procedures and complete and annual review of these procedures., Ensure standardization of practice and procedures among all distribution center locations, Roll out new processes associated with software enhancements or onboarding
  • Support facility layout, location utilization, material handling equipment requirement planning sessions, and best practice selection based on local constraints.
  • Coach and motivate team members to improve knowledge and performance
  • Lead emergency support team in Operations markets on short notice as required
  • Participate in the creation of annual budget for distribution center
  • Identify opportunities and drive operations excellence initiatives in the distribution center
  • Maintain optimal staffing levels and forecast future staffing needs
  • Represent the distribution center at regional operations and cross-functional meetings
  • Participate in distribution center and organization-wide project teams and focus groups
  • Assist Loss Prevention with loss prevention audit and safety audits
  • Take an active role in onboarding and training new team members
  • Verify driver payroll for accuracy
  • Maximize operations to support sales
  • Execute company initiatives and other activities requested by supervisor
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities
  • Contribute ideas on ways to optimize or improve the team, the department, and the Company
  • Enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Report on activities and analyze data to drive results and learning effectiveness
