About The Position

As Manager of the Operational Accounting Department, you will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensuring that general ledger account reconciliations are balanced and reviewed in a timely manner to clear outstanding items, and ensure findings are communicated to relevant stakeholders for resolution. Key responsiblities include prioritizing staff development through regular meetings, training, and cross-training opportunities to promote employee satisfaction and growth. Additionally, you will provide performance feedback, coordinate adaquate department coverage for daily duties when short-staffed and during peak periods, and review and analyze departmental procedures to ensure deadlines are met. Identify areas for improvement to optimize efficiency and productivity within the department, in collaboration with the accounting team, develop and implement performance goals, and mentor staff members through coaching and guidance. Responsibilies will also include approving leave requests and timesheets, creating schedules for daily and end-of-month posting, and overseeing the hiring of new personnel. Be involved in the implementation of new projects and initiatives by attending meetings, participating in the testing process, and developing procedures to support the launch of new initiatives. Establish new accounts with third party vendors for future branches or departments, coordinating delivery of equipment and supplies, and ensuring that the Operational Accounting Staff adhere to established policies, guidelines, and procedures as outlined by management. Furthermore, as Manager, you will maintain effective internal controls that are comprehensive and reliable, assist with opening and closing of general ledgers and establishing new cost centers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience in a financial institution.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills conducive to training, counseling and mentoring employees and confidently handling member issues.
  • Independent thinking, self-motivation, and problem solving to manage multiple priorities set by Management.
