About The Position

The Vice President – Operational Accounting is a senior finance leader responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, and operational integration for a large-scale Senior Housing operating portfolio within a publicly traded REIT environment. This role provides strategic oversight of financial reporting processes, joint venture partnerships, and operator relationships, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, SEC, and SOX requirements. The VP partners closely with Asset Management, FP&A, Investments, and executive leadership to deliver actionable insights, drive process transformation, and support long-term value creation across the portfolio.

  • Previous public company experience
  • Expert level Excel capabilities

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Operational Accounting team supporting a complex senior housing portfolio
  • Establish and execute strategic priorities aligned with enterprise goals, including process optimization, automation, and scalability
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization across accounting processes, systems, and controls
  • Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for operating properties and joint ventures
  • Ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements, including Form 10-Q and 10-K disclosures
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls in compliance with SOX requirements
  • Provide executive-level oversight of balance sheet and income statement variance analysis, cash flow and distribution analysis, capital expenditure reporting and forecasting, and key operating metrics (occupancy, margins, RevPOR)
  • Partner with Asset Management to analyze property-level performance and optimize portfolio outcomes
  • Deliver insights and recommendations to improve operational and financial performance
  • Oversee relationships with third-party operators to ensure timely, accurate, and complete financial reporting
  • Review operator financials and reconciliations, ensuring alignment with REIT reporting requirements
  • Lead preparation and presentation of financial packages to JV partners and stakeholders
  • Support structuring, onboarding, and integration of new investments and partnerships
