Manager of Tax Services - Real Estate Tax
About The Position
Baker Tilly is hiring a Tax Manager to provide tax, accounting, and business advisory services to small business clients. The manager serves as a trusted advisor, works alongside firm leadership to serve clients and build the business, and coaches staff to support their technical and professional development. The role offers opportunities to contribute to the firm’s success and build client, teammate, and leadership relationships. The position oversees accounting, bookkeeping, and prepared or compiled financial services; reviews accounting records and reports; advises clients on accounting and business matters; and leads client engagements. The manager identifies process efficiencies and internal control issues, recommends business and process improvements, manages client relationships and issues, delegates and oversees team work, and helps manage staffing, billing, collections, and client profitability. The role also requires maintaining current knowledge of tax practices and laws, networking, and investing in personal and team development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- CPA or JD required.
- At least five years of experience providing federal and state tax compliance, accounting, and advisory services in a professional services firm.
- At least two years of supervisory experience mentoring and counseling associates.
- Demonstrated management, analytical, organizational, interpersonal, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to lead and supervise others, provide exceptional client service, and maintain ongoing professional learning.
- Ability to understand both the big picture and details, demonstrate ethical knowledge and commitment, and ensure quality and timely project completion.
- Highly developed software and Microsoft Suite skills.

Responsibilities
- Provide tax, accounting, and advisory services to small business clients.
- Oversee accounting, bookkeeping, and prepared or compiled financial services.
- Review and analyze accounting records and reports, advise clients, and discuss accounting and business matters.
- Deliver responsive, timely, professional, and accurate client service.
- Lead and plan client engagements; evaluate service and implementation processes to identify efficiencies and internal control issues.
- Recommend business and process improvements based on clients’ operations, processes, and objectives.
- Build and manage client relationships, resolve client issues, and assist team leaders in researching and providing additional services.
- Delegate and oversee work by setting goals, providing resources, removing obstacles, and scheduling deadlines.
- Maintain current knowledge of local, state, and federal tax practices and laws.
- Assist with client engagement staffing, billing, and collections, and help meet client profitability targets.
- Network and build relationships internally, externally with clients, and in the community.
