About The Position

The Manager of Student Services supports the academic advising unit by helping with Orientation & Enrollment (O&E) operations and delivering high impact student success initiatives. This role plays a key part in ensuring incoming students experience a smooth transition to the university through coordinated advising, enrollment, and engagement efforts. The manager also maintains a small student caseload and contributes to campus-wide advising best practices. This position collaborates closely with advisors, managers, and leadership to support high-quality services that impact student success initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in academic advising or a related field; alternatively, equivalent education in lieu of experience will be considered.
  • Strong academic advising skills and knowledge of first-year student development.
  • Ability to support students in major exploration, course planning, and academic decision-making.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale programs such as Orientation & Enrollment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and group presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with advisors, faculty, admissions, and campus partners.
  • Skill in influencing and guiding processes without direct supervisory authority.
  • Ability to interpret academic policies, degree requirements, and curriculum changes.
  • Proactive problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Commitment to inclusive, student-centered, culturally responsive advising.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Competence using student information systems, degree audit tools, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, assessment, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Flexibility and adaptability during peak advising and orientation periods.

Nice To Haves

  • A graduate degree in Higher Education, Academic Counseling or Advising or related field; an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Architecture or Engineering Technology.
  • Professional experience as an academic advisor or in an industry closely related to CEAT majors.
  • Strong knowledge of academic programs, degree requirements, curricula, and course prerequisites, including the ability to interpret academic records and placement information.
  • Understanding of university academic policies, procedures, and regulations, particularly those related to graduation, enrollment, and transfer credit.
  • Proficiency with advising technologies and student information systems, and ability to use data to track student progress and inform advising decisions.
  • Ability to provide academic counseling and developmental guidance, including support related to course selection, goal setting, career exploration, and academic challenges.
  • Skill in identifying and supporting at-risk students, providing proactive outreach, referrals, and follow up to promote persistence.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills to address academic issues, evaluate petitions, and support decision making.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development and staying current with advising and higher education best practices.
