About The Position

Under administrative supervision of the Probation Director, the Manager of Probation Operations provides leadership over the department’s largest supervision units. The Manager directs and evaluates the supervisory teams responsible for Traditional Probation and Community-Based Services (CBS) and oversees the Interstate Compact and secure-transport functions for the Juvenile Court. The Manager is accountable for the quality, timeliness, and court-readiness of the work products these units generate, for the development and performance of the supervisors who lead them, and for the culture and operational discipline of the units.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences or a related field, paired with 5+ years of experience working within the juvenile justice system, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Bachelor’s degree paired with 10+ years of experience in community juvenile supervision and human behavioral dynamics, including 5+ years in a supervisory capacity, will be considered.
  • Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates the supervisors of the Traditional Probation and Community-Based Services (CBS) units, providing ongoing feedback, coaching, and development toward a shared departmental and Court vision.
  • Holds units accountable for adherence to case-practice expectations, supervision contacts, timelines, and documentation standards, with particular attention to quality standards for traditional cases and the program-fidelity requirements of CBS service caseloads.
  • Builds and sustains a professional, accountable unit culture.
  • Manages personnel matters within assigned units in coordination with the Director, including performance management, scheduling, and resolution of conflicts.
  • Oversees the flow of cases through Traditional Probation, ensuring youth are appropriately monitored and routed, and that referral and disposition pathways are followed.
  • Oversees Community-Based Services program operations and caseload alignment, ensuring services are delivered consistent with program design.
  • Reviews and quality-checks unit-level work products generated by supervisors and line staff.
  • Serves as the Court’s point of accountability for Interstate and Intrastate Compact in compliance with the Interstate Compact for Juveniles.
  • Oversees the secure-transport and Court Services function supporting commitments, transfers, and related movement, ensuring scheduling, coverage, and documentation are maintained.
  • Provides leadership in the development of a shared vision that strengthens both the departmental and Court mission and applies effective leadership principles in mentoring and guiding staff.
  • Completes operational reports and records related to assigned units, and supplies unit-level information to the department’s data, fiscal, and compliance functions.
  • Partners with the other Probation units responsible with peer Managers, to ensure Department goals and responsibilities are accomplished.
  • Serves on committees, represents the department at internal and external meetings, and assumes responsibility for department processes in the absence of other Probation Managers or the Director.
  • Responsible for receiving a minimum of 40 hours of training annually.
  • Responsible for the management, upkeep and tracking of the fleet of vehicles assigned to the Probation Department.
  • Assumes responsibility for all department processes in the absence of other Probation Managers or the Director.
  • Assumes other duties as assigned by the Director of Probation.
