The Juvenile Probation Officer is responsible for conducting intakes, assessments, and screenings for new admissions. This role involves coordinating medical and mental health services for residents, conducting various visits (school, office, home), and ensuring timely documentation of cases. The officer will develop and review case plans, maintain contact with parents/guardians, and provide case management information for out-of-county probation departments. Responsibilities also include preparing progress reports, coordinating communications and visitations, supervising residents, and preparing referrals for consultations and social services. The officer ensures residents understand court orders and obligations, assists with specific programs, and maintains resident files according to standards. Additional duties include knowledge of specific software and devices for monitoring staff and residents, implementing treatment plans, facilitating groups, and maintaining communication with other staff. The role also involves oversight of community-based programs, preparing reports and presentations, conducting investigations, interviewing clients and families, reviewing documentation, and making recommendations for adjudication and disposition. The officer provides counseling, assists with referrals, verifies program completion, and prepares assessments for the court. Court appearances, urinalysis, and executing directives are also part of the role, along with maintaining client files and transporting residents. Availability for emergencies, including inclement weather and taking children into custody, is required. The position may involve direct supervision of residents' daily activities, including one-to-one supervision for high-risk individuals, and conducting random observation checks. Assigning and supervising housekeeping details, reporting unsafe areas, and ensuring residents understand responsibilities are key. Facilitating cognitive skill and teamwork activities, implementing disciplinary sanctions, and maintaining professional boundaries are essential. The officer must maintain accountability of residents, use verbal de-escalation techniques, and apply physical restraints when necessary. Adherence to professional conduct, ethical behavior, and policies related to PREA, TJJD, and CCJJD is mandatory. This includes zero tolerance for sexual abuse and harassment, and cooperation with ANE investigations. The role requires abiding by all laws and serving as a role model, attending staff meetings and trainings, and understanding that employment is contingent upon grant availability. CCJJD is an At-Will employer, and the officer will perform other duties as assigned.
