About The Position

The Community Living Society (CLS) is seeking an innovative, energetic, and creative Manager of Independent Living. This role reports to a Director of Programs and focuses on supporting individuals to live as independently as possible. The Manager is accountable for the day-to-day management of a group of Independent Living locations and a relief pool. While primarily administrative, direct support may be required occasionally. The Manager will provide direct coaching and support to Team Leads and Community Living Counsellors, acting as a professional leader within the CLS management team. This position involves active collaboration with the administration team, including other Directors. The Independent Living Program aims to provide optimal assistance for individuals to maximize their independence, promoting health and well-being within their homes and communities. The program is designed to be supportive rather than intrusive, complementing existing resources and natural supports, and is not intended for 24/7 coverage. Individuals must be capable of managing basic living skills independently or with other supports.

Requirements

  • Class 5 driver’s license (permanent staff must be willing to obtain a Class 4 license)
  • Access to a vehicle
  • First Aid and CPR Certificate
  • Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
  • Clean driver’s abstract
  • Medical Form with immunization record
  • Previous leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong computer and administrative skills
  • Significant knowledge and demonstrated excellence in Person Centered Active Supports concepts and approaches

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of multiple locations, ensuring effective and smooth operation of the location, including emergency preparedness
  • Engaging and supporting individuals to live as full citizens
  • Coaching, mentoring and performance management of a Team Lead and a team of Community Living Counsellors
  • Selecting, onboarding, training and the development of these Counselors
  • General administration including scheduling, timecard approvals, budgeting, and financial accountabilities for all the locations and individuals within the designated locations
  • General administration and reporting related to the support of the individuals.
  • Maintaining strong and supportive relationships with all the supported individual networks, members of the public, family members and team members.
